Lido Beach: Nature and Recreation
Accommodation in Lido Beach
Natural and recreational features in Lido Beach include a nature area on Lido Boulevard, golf practice areas, racquet sports, and seasonal water activities. These offer different ways to shape your stay. If you are looking for a hotel in Lido Beach, you can start by considering which activities you want to define your stay. The following sections help distinguish the locations and conditions. Planning depends not only on your preferred activity, but also on the conditions at each location.
Natural Areas and History
Lido Beach Passive Nature Area is a 40-acre site in Lido Beach on Lido Boulevard. Lido Beach Wildlife Management Area is a separate protected area on the bay side of Hempstead's Lido Beach. It protects 22 acres and is not open to the public. The areas are distinct: 40 acres belong to Passive Nature Area, and 22 acres to Wildlife Management Area. In 1969, Wildlife Management Area was acquired as a former Nike missile site. For nature enthusiasts, this area therefore combines its current conservation function with a specific historical background.
Golf and Racquet Sports
Lido Golf Course has a driving range and practice greens for putting and chipping. These facilities cater to different practice needs: the range is for hitting shots, while the greens are for putting and chipping. If you are including golf in your travel plans, these facilities can help you decide which type of practice interests you.
Town Park At Malibu, Area C Racquet Sports has four hard courts. This facility offers a different sporting focus from Lido Golf Course, whose practice areas include a driving range and greens for putting and chipping. Racquet sports have seasonal opening hours; check the hours before your visit if you plan to use the courts.
Seasonal Recreation
Lido Beach Town Park has a Spray Pool with a seasonal schedule. Check the dates for your visit and do not plan on it being available year-round.
For 2026, users of Nickerson Beach Campground can purchase access to the Pitch and Putt and daily pool use separately at the administrative office at Nickerson Beach. This option differs from the seasonal arrangements for the Spray Pool: it involves a specific user group, two separately purchasable offerings, and a specific place to purchase them. If either option is important to your stay, confirm the details in advance, as specific arrangements may change.
For a stay with several priorities, it helps to sort the conditions by type: access at Wildlife Management Area, seasonal hours for racquet sports and the Spray Pool, and user group and separate purchase for the campground. That way, you can check the relevant information for each planned activity instead of treating all recreational offerings as if they were organized in the same way.
