Hancock is located where the East and West Branches of the Delaware River converge. The town’s connection to the outdoors includes the Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River, considered the last major free-flowing river stretch in the eastern United States. Its riverside location shapes the destination; the different access points, activities, and seasonal offerings can help you plan your visit.

River Access and Activities

Hancock River Access is a public access point to the Upper Delaware River near Hancock. There, you can fish, canoe or kayak, and picnic. This location offers several ways to spend time by the river, from activities on the water to a picnic.

Two other locations serve different purposes. The Cadosia hand-launch site on the East Branch of the Delaware River is in Hancock; parking is available for four cars. Fireman’s Field Access offers a drift boat launch and public fishing access. The distinction is useful when choosing where to go: Cadosia is a hand-launch site with parking, while Fireman’s Field combines drift boat launching and public fishing. Access conditions at Fireman’s Field may change; check them before visiting.

Fly-fishing is a year-round recreational activity in Hancock. Outdoor Adventure Recreational Services rents kayaks, canoes, and river tubes in Hancock. If you plan to rent equipment, it’s a good idea to check the provider’s current information, as details may change.

Offerings include fresh produce, when available, local honey, preserved foods and baked goods, as well as local foods, handmade goods, soaps, and items from local artisans. The selection may change. The market thus brings together food and crafts at a specific location; if you’re coming for a particular item, check its availability in advance.

The Old Bridge Street Lookout offers a place to watch for eagles. The Robert W. Nichol Nature Preserve & Science Center offers educational programs for children and adults. These two offerings provide different ways to spend your visit: watching wildlife along a trail or attending an educational program. If a particular program is important to your plans, check its availability; trail conditions may also change.

Hancock Golf & Country Club is a public golf course. If golf is part of your plans, check current operating status before visiting, as it may change. Together with the river access points, year-round fly-fishing, and seasonal market, Hancock offers several specific options to help you plan.
