Museums and History in Roseau

The Roseau County Museum features exhibits on the cultural and natural history of Roseau County and northwestern Minnesota. Its program includes rotating exhibits from the Smithsonian Institution and other regional organizations. The Roseau County Historical Society and Museum also helps preserve the history of Roseau County through exhibits, a research center and educational programs.

Agricultural history takes center stage at Roseau Pioneer Farm and Village: Founded in 1975, this open-air museum features restored buildings. These include a one-room schoolhouse, a print shop, a general store and a church. The 5,600-square-foot Polaris Experience Center offers another perspective on local history, sharing the story and development of Polaris with visitors.

Greenway, Park and Sports

Roseau’s Greenway offers a variety of recreational trails. A 4.5-mile paved, non-motorized trail runs along the entire diversion. There are also nearly 13 miles of narrow mountain bike trails around Mt. Roseau. The trails therefore differ in their use, surface and length. The Greenway also includes an ATV terrain park; operating conditions may vary.

Roseau City Park is a wooded park of more than 40 acres in southeastern Roseau, along the Roseau River. The park has a boat landing on the river. If you’d like to include golf in your travel plans, Oak Crest Golf Course is located on the Roseau River: This publicly operated golf club has an 18-hole championship course. Roseau is also a participating community on the Pine to Prairie International Birding Trail.
