Vadnais Heights has more than 100 acres of actively used parkland and a network of trails. Parks and trails give your stay a tangible connection to outdoor activity. Whether you want to plan a hike, a bike ride, or a single recreational activity, the offerings have different focuses and can be chosen based on what interests you locally.

Parkland and trails throughout the year

In winter, the city clears important trails once more than two inches of snow have fallen. If you plan to use trails during this season, you can take the snow-clearing rule into account when planning your day and check conditions in advance. The information applies to important trails and specifies a particular snowfall threshold.

Biking, hiking, and a playground in the Sucker Lake section

The Sucker Lake section of Vadnais-Snail Lakes Regional Park has bike and hiking trails. This section of the park also has a small playground. Different interests come together here: you can follow the trails or plan a visit to the playground as a destination in its own right. The section thus offers several distinct options when choosing between a bike ride, a hike, and a playground visit.

Self-guided nature activities

Two free, self-guided activities explore nature themes in different ways. “Build Your Own Bug” explains what makes an insect, and you can also create an insect of your own. “Create Your Own Amphibian Sound Map” focuses on frogs and toads: you can listen for them in a natural area. The activities therefore have different emphases—one is about learning and creating, the other about listening and amphibians. Both activities are free and self-guided.

“Park and Rec Bingo” also offers a way to explore open spaces and trails. There is also a fall version. You can consider this activity as another way to explore parks and trails, alongside the two nature activities, each with its own theme.

Sports and seasonal planning

There is a specific time rule for evening ball games at Community Park: Monday through Friday, they may be played with lighting until 10:30 p.m. if needed. If such a game is part of your plans, both the day of the week and the option to use lighting are relevant. The rule allows evening games and specifies how late they may take place.

Winter hours are also specified for the sledding hill at Kohler Meadows: 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., provided there is snow cover. If you plan to visit the hill, check current access before you go. This lets you take both the stated hours and the snow condition into account when planning.

Then compare the specific information each hotel provides about its location and amenities.
