Gateway: Trails, Soccer and Golf

Gateway is a master-planned community covering more than 3,000 acres. Specific recreational features include paved walking trails, soccer facilities, golf and a pool. For planning purposes, it is helpful to distinguish between the individual locations: Linear Park, Sherman Soccer Complex and Gateway Soccer Complex offer different destinations.

Getting There and Getting Around

Gateway is located just off Interstate 75 between Daniels Parkway and Colonial Boulevard. Gateway also offers quick access to Southwest Florida International Airport. If you are looking for a hotel, compare its exact address with your planned destinations.

Walking Trails and Linear Park

Linear Park has more than two miles of paved walking trails. Parking for the park is available at Sherman Soccer Complex, and a designated pedestrian crossing provides access. Trail type, length and access are therefore relevant details for planning. In addition, Gateway has several miles of jogging, walking and biking trails. Paved walking trails are the main feature of Linear Park, while the other trails are also used for jogging and biking. Trail conditions may change; check current conditions when making specific plans.

Soccer Facilities and Dog Park

Sherman Soccer Complex has four regulation-size soccer fields as well as a junior soccer field. Gateway's Member-Only Dog Park is right next door. This approximately one-acre dog park is designated for off-leash use; access is limited to members. Keep this requirement in mind when planning a visit. Gateway Soccer Complex is a different destination: it has a playground and restrooms. If you are looking for one of these facilities in particular, the respective name—Sherman Soccer Complex or Gateway Soccer Complex—will help you find your way.

Golf and Pool

The Club at Gateway has an 18-hole championship course. From the men's No. 1 tee box, the course measures 6,981 yards. This gives golfers a specific point of comparison that applies to that tee box.

A fee schedule adopted on June 6, 2024, lists an annual pass for people who do not live in Gateway for the Gateway Commons Pool. If you are planning a pool visit, check the access requirements before your trip.

Fort Myers Brewing Company

Fort Myers Brewing Company was the first microbrewery in Lee County. The company has a taproom, with food trucks on site seven days a week. Live music and special events are also held regularly. Since the schedule may change, check the current calendar if you are planning a visit.
