Discover Evergreen
Accommodation in Evergreen
Evergreen offers reasons to visit for a variety of interests: time at the lake, hikes, insights into local history, or a seasonal event. If you’re looking for a hotel for your trip, you can first consider which of these activities you want to shape your stay. Conditions and dates vary depending on the activity.
Evergreen Lake and Hiking Trails
Boat rentals at Evergreen Lake are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Operations are seasonal and weather-dependent. If you’d rather explore on foot, the lake has a 1.25-mile hiking trail. Fishing is also possible: the lake is stocked with trout, and you need a state fishing license to fish. The lake’s ice rinks offer public skating; they may close in bad weather or when ice conditions are unsuitable. As of February 17, 2026, the skating season had already ended.
The parks also offer different experiences. Alderfer/Three Sisters Park features striking rock formations and more than 15 miles of publicly accessible hiking trails. The Summit Trail offers views of the Continental Divide. Elk Meadow Park has more than 16 miles of trails with varying difficulty levels. Its landscape includes aspen groves, and it offers the best chance in Jefferson County to see herds of elk. When choosing a park, you might therefore be drawn to rock formations and views, or to aspen groves and possible wildlife sightings.
History, Art, and Events
The Hiwan Museum preserves and shares the history of the families who lived at Camp Neosho and Hiwan Ranch. Free guided tours are offered during opening hours. Since hours may change seasonally or for operational reasons, check them before visiting.
The Evergreen Rodeo takes place every summer on Father’s Day weekend; the exact date varies from year to year. The parade and rodeo are organized by local volunteers. If you want the event to determine your travel dates, check the date for the relevant year before planning your trip.
Sculpture Evergreen features sculptural art primarily outdoors, in locations that are freely accessible every day of the week. Individual sculptures may change. This makes the exhibition a different cultural point of interest from the Hiwan Museum: here, you can encounter art in public spaces; there, you can learn about the history of the families connected with Camp Neosho and Hiwan Ranch.
A historical connection to music is the first Evergreen Jazz Festival, held in 2001.
Plan Your Travel Dates and Hotels in Evergreen
Timing depends on which activity matters most to you: boat rentals are seasonal and weather-dependent, the rodeo is tied to the Father’s Day weekend, which varies from year to year, and tours at the Hiwan Museum take place during opening hours. First decide which of these interests will shape your trip; then you can look for hotels for your stay in Evergreen.
