Northglenn brings together cultural attractions, parks, natural areas and recreational facilities. To plan your trip, you can first consider whether walking trails and wildlife, sporting activities or an event date will be the deciding factor for your stay. These themes can help you choose Northglenn to suit the purpose of your trip.

Parks and Natural Areas

E.B. Rains Jr. Memorial Park has walking trails and a Sensory Playground. Pedal boats can also be rented there. Rentals may be seasonal or subject to operational changes; check in advance whether pedal boats will be available during your travel dates. Walking, the play area and boat rentals offer different ways to spend time in the park. You can focus your visit on one activity rather than trying to fit them all into the same day.

Croke Reservoir Nature Area offers a different experience: a walking trail runs along the east side of the reservoir. The area is home to fish, snapping turtles, waterfowl, herons, red-winged blackbirds, muskrats, raccoons and occasional foxes. The mix of wildlife may vary by season. The Bill Gillespie Nature Trail is 3,988 feet long, providing a specific reference point for planning a walk; at the reservoir, wildlife is a focus in its own right.

The landscape of Oscar Arnold Nature Area is also distinctive: wooded areas with mature cottonwoods, cattail marshes and other wetland plants provide valuable wildlife habitat. These habitats can change over time. The designation of Fox Run Open Space as a nature area was intended to protect it from development.

Culture and Events

Parsons Theatre has 335 seats. Northglenn Arts presents live productions through Northglenn Arts Presents and the Northglenn Youth Theatre; productions and schedules change. If you are traveling for a show, check the dates for your planned travel period. Art on Parade is also based at E.B. Rains Jr. Memorial Park.

A theater visit depends on an event date; for natural areas, trail length, landscape and seasonally changing wildlife shape your plans. A stay centered on a fixed cultural event therefore differs from one focused on nature in terms of timing, too.

Recreation and Activity

Northglenn Recreation Center is part of an almost 88,000-square-foot multipurpose facility that houses the city's recreation and cultural programs. Programs and facility configurations may change. Kiwanis Park and Pool has an outdoor pool; Don Anema Memorial Skatepark covers 15,000 square feet and was built in 2011. These examples represent different recreational options: an outdoor pool, a skating area and a multipurpose facility with city programs.

For travelers with a dog, it is also important to consider the date of a local reference: during the period covered by the city's 2017 master plan, Bill Goodspeed Happy Tails Dog Park was the city's only dog park where dogs were allowed off leash. If you are counting on being able to let your dog run off leash during your visit, check the current rules in advance.
