If you’re looking for hotels in Perris, you can plan your stay around a particular interest. The places featured here offer different highlights in terms of landscape, cultural history and recreation. You can start by considering which aspect of the destination matters most to you.

Landscape and Regional Culture

Lake Perris State Recreation Area covers more than 8,800 acres of varied landscapes. Its size and landscape diversity give the area a distinctive place in the picture of the destination. It offers a different focus from the collections and recreational facilities that also shape Perris. If landscape is a factor in your choice of destination, you can include the Recreation Area as one of the highlights in your travel plans.

The Ya'i Heki' Regional Indian Museum presents and preserves the history, culture and traditions of the Indigenous peoples of the Inland Empire region. Ya'i Heki' means “Home of the Wind” in the language of the Cahuilla people. The name gives the museum’s subject a linguistic connection, while its cultural focus extends beyond the meaning of the name. Listed opening hours are Fridays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Before you travel, check whether these hours apply to your visit.

Railway History: Collection, Rides and Depot

The Southern California Railway Museum was moved to Perris, California, in 1956. It houses an extensive collection of historic locomotives, railway cars, streetcars, 3-foot-gauge vehicles and model trains. The collection therefore ranges from locomotives and cars to model trains.

During operating hours, the museum offers rides on Saturdays and Sundays aboard an actual streetcar or a railway car pulled by a locomotive. Exceptions apply to special ticketed events. This lets you choose between viewing the collection and taking a ride on one of the vehicles. Check the ride schedule and information about special events before your visit.

The Perris Depot, also called Perris Station or Santa Fe Depot, is another part of the town’s railway history. Built in 1892 as a railway depot for Perris, it has been used as a local history museum by the Perris Valley Historical and Museum Association since 1974. Together, these represent different forms of local history: the extensive vehicle collection at the Southern California Railway Museum and a depot that serves as a local history museum.

Skydive Perris is located at a private airport at 2091 Goetz Rd, Perris, CA 92570. Its offerings include an on-site wind tunnel for indoor skydiving; visitors aged three and up are welcome. The simulator offers a different focus from the railway museums and sports fields. Check age and booking requirements in advance.

Big League Dreams Perris Valley is a 35-acre sports complex with two indoor soccer fields. Drop Zone Water Park offers two large waterslides and the Lil’ Jumpers splash-play area for children. Indoor soccer and water play are distinct recreational options that you can include in your travel plans depending on your interests.
