Adrasan between Coast and Mountains

Adrasan, also known as Çavuşköy, is a protected natural harbor on the Lycian maritime trade route. The settlement extends along a 2.5-kilometer stretch of coast, consisting mostly of sandy and pebble beaches. Forested mountains surround the bay and, together with the shoreline, shape the landscape. The area around the bay is known for its natural scenery; locals often use it for fishing. Both the harbor and the beach are part of the settlement’s character. If you are looking for hotels for a trip to Adrasan, these features can help you decide whether to focus on the coastal landscape, trail routes or historic sites.

Trails around Adrasan

The Lycian Way descends to the settlement of Adrasan along a forest trail. After crossing Adrasan beach, it climbs uphill through a streambed toward the settlement of Olympos. The change in terrain is clear: the forested descent is followed by the beach crossing and the climb through the streambed. The route can therefore be understood through its terrain and direction. The Adrasan–Sazak Bay route is listed as one of the trekking routes in Beydağları Coastal National Park. While the Lycian Way is described through specific trail sections, Adrasan–Sazak Bay provides another named route to consider when planning your trip.

Historic Sites by the Bay

Kızkalesi Tepesi lies north of the bay. A watchtower and defensive structures from different periods stand on the hill. The watchtower commands the entire Bay of Adrasan and was also used during the Ottoman period. West of the bay, a castle stands on a hill, with remains of late-period walls and buildings. The directions—north and west—give you a geographic frame of reference for distinguishing between the two historic sites. The watchtower and structures on Kızkalesi Tepesi have a different historical focus from the castle and its late-period building remains.

Water and Boat Trips

In clear weather, visibility in the waters of Adrasan can reach up to 25 meters; the waters are popular with swimmers and snorkelers. This possible maximum depends on clear weather and is not guaranteed regardless of conditions. In summer, daily boat trips are offered along Antalya’s mountainous coastline. Fishing boats gather in Balıkçılar Bay and organize private excursions. When planning, you can consider the seasonal daily trips along the coast and the fishing boats’ private excursions as two different options. If you plan a trip, check the current times in advance, and ask about availability for your preferred date if you want a private excursion.

Supplies for Tour Planning

On the map sheet in question, Adrasan is the only settlement where you can obtain food, water and other necessities. This is a specific reference point if you are including a hike in your travel plans: consider your basic needs and check before setting out that you have enough supplies for the tour. The Lycian Way’s forest trail descends to the settlement of Adrasan; on the map sheet in question, the settlement is also the only place to stock up on such supplies.
