Seeburg Park is 2.5 kilometres long and stretches from Kreuzlingen harbour around Seeburg Castle along the shores of Lake Constance. It lies directly on the Lake Constance cycle route between Kreuzlingen and Romanshorn, linking two defining features of the area: the lakeside landscape and the cycle route. The park has a small garden with medicinal and culinary herbs that is open to the public. The plants are arranged in numerous beds according to their properties.

The playground in Seeburg Park offers, among other things, a zip line, climbing equipment, a bocce court, a football field and a small barefoot trail. At Kreuzlingen Animal Park, by contrast, the focus is on encounters with traditional domestic animal breeds that are at risk of extinction. Goats, sheep and donkeys can be fed and petted there. The playground focuses on play activities, while Kreuzlingen Animal Park offers encounters with animals and the opportunity to care for them.

Trails for nature, art and activity

The streams of Kreuzlingen can be explored on easy walks. Along the way, visitors can experience ecological improvements and flood protection. Another walk follows 17 stops with an audio guide: Along the route, it shares poetic, entertaining and informative stories about giant trees up to 120 years old. The walk starts at the Seemuseum, follows the lakeshore and returns to the starting point after about 60 minutes.

The two experiences differ mainly in their subject matter: the streams focus on waterways and flood protection, while the audio guide focuses on old trees and the stories at each stop. The approximate duration of one hour applies to this audio-guided walk and provides a practical reference for planning your time.

Art trails in different formats

The children’s art trail is a creative discovery tour of Kreuzlingen for children and interested adults. It includes eight discovery stops, each with a creative activity. Its set format makes the structure of the experience clear, without requiring an estimated walking time.

The art trails let you create your own city walk to artworks in public spaces in Kreuzlingen. Information about them is available in the form of text, images and audio files that can be accessed online. The main difference between the formats is their structure: the children’s art trail is divided into eight activity stops, while the art trails let you put together your own route.

City history and museums

Seeburg Castle was built in 1598 and, after its restoration, served as a summer residence for the abbots of Kreuzlingen. The name Kreuzlingen comes from the Augustinian monastery of Crucelin, later known as Kreuzlingen Monastery. It was founded in 1125 and rebuilt at its present location in 1650.

Together with the neighbouring German city of Konstanz, Kreuzlingen is part of the Lake Constance urban area. A tangible cultural connection between the two cities can be found at the Zollplatz by the former Kreuzlingen Gate: Kreuzlingen and Konstanz regularly hold exhibitions and cultural events there.

The Rosenegg Museum is housed in a Rococo palace commissioned by the Bächler wine-trading family around 1785. The former wine cellar contains the exhibition “Hüben und Drüben” about the Swiss-German border. Architectural history and a border-related exhibition theme thus come together in one place.

The Seemuseum has 1,500 square metres of exhibition space and is housed in the former granary of the Augustinians, built in 1680. On display are objects from the Jura steamship, which sank in 1864. The building’s origins and the exhibits provide different historical points of reference for a museum visit: the granary on the one hand, and the history of shipping on the other.
