Wäldi in the canton of Thurgau can be explored through several specific highlights: Napoleonturm near the hamlet of Hohenrain, a signposted circular trail and archaeological traces on Hohenrain. Wäldi lies on the southern slope of the Seerücken, away from the main road between Müllheim and Tägerwilen. The history of Wäldi Church and other options for golf enthusiasts may also play a role in planning your trip. When looking for a hotel, it helps to first decide what you would like to focus on: is hiking your priority, would you like to explore the local history, or do you want to include golf in your stay? The information below helps connect these interests with the sights and travel planning.

Napoleonturm and circular trail

Napoleonturm is located near the hamlet of Hohenrain above Wäldi in the canton of Thurgau. It is open daily from 8 am to 6 pm; check the opening hours again before your trip. The Napoleonturm circular trail runs from Hotel Golfpanorama to Napoleonturm and back. It is 10 km long and takes about 2.5 hours. It is signposted in both directions, and the circular walk can also start at the car park in front of Napoleonturm. The time estimate is for the entire loop and helps you plan the route as a separate activity.

Hohenrain and local history

Hohenrain is more than just the site of the tower. During the Bronze Age and later during the Hallstatt period, one of the largest settlements in the northern Alpine foothills was located there. The settlement was inhabited during the Middle Bronze Age, approximately from 1300 to 1500 BC. Excavations on Hohenrain yielded 33,000 pottery shards weighing a total of 550 kilograms. Wäldi Church is also part of the local history: it was built in 1723 for churchgoers from Wäldi and Kreuzstrasse. The 1723 building adds a much more recent chapter to the prehistoric topics in the area’s history.

Leisure and golf

A 27-hole golf course with a clubhouse restaurant borders Connyland directly. Its driving range is open year-round and accessible to everyone. Connyland is home to the “Cobra” roller coaster; visitors can also visit the sea lion arena. If golf is part of your travel plans, Golf Club Lipperswil offers a specific place to start: it is situated on the gentle hills of the Seerücken by Lake Constance; guests are welcome on the 27-hole course at any time. Individual and group lessons, as well as taster, course-permission and technique courses, are available.

Plan your journey

Postbus services connect Wäldi with Kreuzlingen, Weinfelden and Frauenfeld. Check the timetable for your specific journey before setting off. The A7 motorway between Winterthur and Kreuzlingen passes through the municipality of Wäldi, but Wäldi does not have its own motorway exit. If travelling by car, take the lack of a dedicated exit into account when choosing your route.
