Reiden lies in the lower Wiggertal, east of the Wigger and on the border with the Canton of Aargau. Weihermatte, wooded hills, art and local history, and the Reiden outdoor pool offer a range of ways to enjoy a stay here.

Landscape, Biotope and Hiking Routes

The landscape around Reiden includes the partly wooded Hochfluh south of the village, at 559 m above sea level; Lusberg, east of the village, at 632 m above sea level; and Ehag, at 682 m above sea level. Ehag connects the two hills and is almost entirely covered by Sertelwald. Klempenberg, which is heavily wooded and reaches a maximum elevation of 651 m above sea level, lies in the northern part of the municipality. Of these elevations, Ehag is the highest, followed by Klempenberg, Lusberg and Hochfluh.

The Weihermatte biotope has an easy-to-walk path and places to rest. Trees, shrubs, numerous plants and hedges, as well as many animals, define the biotope. The path and resting places invite visitors to linger and observe. Weihermatte thus offers a nature-focused experience distinct from the wooded hills. Reiden also has varied, marked routes for hikers. Check specific route information before setting out, as details may change.

Art and History on Site

The Robert Spreng art collection comprises 160 works by 47 artists. It offers a representative cross-section of artistic production in Switzerland during the first half of the 20th century. This clearly defines both its timeframe and its focus on Swiss art.

The Aecherli Museum offers an insight into the activities of the former machinery factory through machines, illustrations and visualisations. The production history of AECHERLI adds to this picture: for 75 years, the company manufactured pumps, agitators, motor mowers, two-wheel tractors and tractors. These products show the breadth of its industrial manufacturing, while the machines and displays in the museum provide a glimpse of the factory’s former work.

The Langnau-Mehlsecken Village Museum is dedicated to the history of the districts of Langnau and Mehlsecken in the municipality of Reiden. The local history exhibition includes, among other things, postcards, photographs, plans, religious objects and club memorabilia from the region. It offers a different focus from the Aecherli Museum: here, local history and regional artefacts take centre stage, while the other museum focuses on the former machinery factory. Check the latest visitor information before your visit.

Swimming and Sauna at the Reiden Outdoor Pool

The Reiden outdoor pool has a 50-metre outdoor pool, a 25-metre indoor pool, a non-swimmers’ pool and a paddling pool. The two large pools differ in length and in whether they are outdoors or indoors; the other pools are specifically designated for non-swimmers and paddling. The facility also has a modern sauna area and original play equipment for visitors of all ages.

If swimming and sauna are to be a focus of your stay, the outdoor pool offers a different experience from the collections or natural areas. Pool facilities and operating arrangements may change; check the latest information before travelling.
