Siat: Climbing, culture and winter trails
Accommodation in Siat
Siat combines climbing, historic architecture and winter trails. When looking for hotels in Siat, you can base your travel decision on what matters most to you: climbing opportunities, culture or activities in the snow. For winter trails in particular, route lengths, elevation gain and difficulty ratings can help you compare the options more closely. This makes it easier to match your choice of destination to the activities you have planned.
Climbing in Siat
The climbing garden in Siat offers a variety of climbing routes and a small via ferrata for beginners and experienced climbers. The gym at Casa Sentupada has an indoor climbing wall where beginners and experienced climbers can train year-round. The climbing routes and via ferrata in the climbing garden therefore differ from training on the indoor wall. Technical conditions and access rules may vary; check them before your visit. If you would like to use the indoor climbing wall, clarify the participation requirements in advance.
The Church of Sogn Glieci and its history
The Church of Sogn Glieci was built in the 12th century; its still-visible wall paintings date from the mid-17th century. The paintings were therefore created several centuries after the church was built. The church building and wall paintings represent different historical periods and add a cultural dimension to the sporting activities.
Compare winter trails and tours
The Siat snowshoe hike is a moderately difficult circular route covering 6.1 kilometres, with 390 metres of ascent and 390 metres of descent. It follows forest and panoramic trails to the Cuolm Miez viewpoint, offers views over the Surselva and then returns to Siat. The circular route, distance and elevation gain give you a concrete basis for planning. Snow and avalanche conditions vary by season; check the current conditions before setting out.
The Cuolms da Siat circular tour is 26 kilometres long, with 1,112 metres of ascent and 1,112 metres of descent. Compared with the Siat snowshoe hike, it is considerably longer and includes more elevation gain. Mountain weather and trail conditions can change; take the current conditions into account when planning. The Cuolms da Siat snowshoe route passes very close to two wildlife rest zones. Strictly observe their requirements and check local notices before setting out.
The Siat–Falera winter hiking trail is an easy high-altitude trail on the southern side of the Surselva. It offers plenty of sunshine and views of the surrounding mountains and the valley. Unlike the moderately difficult Siat snowshoe hike, this trail is rated easy. This allows you to choose between snowshoeing and winter hiking based on the type of activity and the stated difficulty level.
