Klosters Platz offers a range of options for planning your trip: historic buildings and a museum sit alongside hiking and cycling routes, as well as winter sports activities. If you are looking for a hotel in Klosters Platz, you can make your choice based on the excursions that matter to you during your stay. The destinations below show the many ways culture, activity and landscape come together here.

Walser history and craftsmanship

The Reformed Church in Klosters is the original monastery church. Its surviving tower dates from the original 13th-century building; its three tracery windows contain stained-glass works by Augusto Giacometti from 1928. This is a place to appreciate architecture and art together, even though these two details are from different periods.

At Nutli-Hüschi, you can explore another part of the town’s history: the typical 16th-century Walser house has been a museum since 1925. The collection includes old household items, furniture and tools from Klosters and the surrounding area. Bread is also baked there for visitors and locals in a wood-fired oven; baking times may vary. From Nutli Hüschi, it is a ten-minute walk to the museum’s historic grain mill.

The Alte KornmĂĽhle in Rohr is a pre-industrial, water-powered mill and the only one of the more than 20 mills in Klosters to have survived. The Rohr Mill has been operational again since 1997; whether it can be visited may vary. Comparing it with the Nutli-HĂĽschi Museum reveals two distinct aspects of local heritage: life in a Walser house and the former use of water power.

Trails, winter sports and climbing

The Dwarf Trail above Aeuja is 2.8 kilometres long and was renovated and modernised in summer 2024. Ten stations combine fairy tales with play features, including a large marble run. This makes the trail different from a simple hiking route: the individual play and storytelling stations are part of the experience, as well as the route itself.

The Madrisa ski area has 23 kilometres of pistes. When there is enough snow, a 7.7-kilometre toboggan run to Saas is also available. Madrisa-Land offers a marble run, bouncy castle, slides, water games and swings; individual facilities may change over time. If you are planning different winter activities, you can treat the pistes, tobogganing and play facilities as separate options. Check the relevant current information for seasonal activities.

The Sunniberg Bridge near Klosters also brings together engineering and landscape. It opened to road traffic in 2005, is considered a monument and spans approximately half a kilometre. The bridge blends harmoniously into the landscape around Klosters. The “Sunnibergbrücke Climbing” facility is located at the second pier. It has 20 climbing routes and two multi-pitch routes. The routes climb up to 55 metres; grades range from 4a to 8a. The facility is free and open to the public, and users are responsible for their own safety.

Hiking, cycling and getting here

A circular hike starts at Klosters Platz station, passes through Selfranga and Monbiel with views of Klosters, and returns to the starting point. Along the “Gadäwäg” from Monbiel to Russna are five converted Gadä barns. Their installations explore history, culture and nature. On the circular hike, the views and the sequence of places take centre stage, while the Gadäwäg explores cultural themes along a named route.

The Family Trail follows a cycle path along the Landquart to Alp Garfiun and back. Another option is the Schlappin–Kübliser Alp gravel bike route: it runs from Klosters through the Schlappin Valley to Kübliser Alp and then back to Klosters Platz. In summer, a mobile skills park with a pump track is also available in the Bündelti area. The routes therefore differ mainly in their stated destinations and course.

Klosters Platz station has been made accessible and has a direct cable-car connection to the Gotschna and Parsenn areas. Since the timetable change in December 2023, the RhB service between Landquart, Klosters and Davos/Engadin has run every half hour. The local bus connects the station with the car park in Monbiel daily from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Check the timetable before travelling to make sure your plans fit the departure times.
