Rohrbach offers several distinct points of interest for choosing a travel destination: an archaeological earthwork, historical features in and around the church, a circular hike through forests and meadows, and views from the surrounding hills. There are also connections to the BLS railway line and other local offerings.

Altburg and the church: different aspects of local history

Altburg is a spectacular earthwork with a tower mound and outer bailey, surrounded by ramparts, some of which were built artificially. The area is an archaeological conservation zone. Today, Altburg is a popular excursion destination. The tower mound, outer bailey and ramparts refer to different elements of the same complex. This draws attention to the earthwork’s multi-part structure, rather than to the tower mound alone.

The church in Rohrbach has a 15th-century baptismal font, probably the oldest in the Oberaargau region. The churchyard contains ten stations on a Reformation Trail. It was created for the 500th anniversary of the Reformation in 2017 and presents the foundations of the Reformed faith. The cultural distinction is concrete: the baptismal font is a single dated object, while the Reformation Trail explores a religious theme across ten stations.

Local history also reaches far back: Rohrbach, then called Rorpah, was first mentioned in a document in 795. The first documentary mention in 795 and the 15th-century baptismal font mark different points in time: early local history on the one hand, and a church object dated to a later period on the other.

Circular hike, views and cycling route

The Hirsrüti circular hike passes through forests and meadows before returning to the village center of Rohrbach. From the hills around Rohrbach, the local recreation area offers largely fog-free views of the Jura range or the Napf region. These present two different possible focal points: the hike is described by its route, while the views are described by their landscape destinations.

The well-known Herzroute passes close to Rohrbach. Rohrbach is also home to the Am-Bach road bridge over the Langete.
