Kebal can be considered as a place to stay based on specific routes, natural landscapes and waterside landmarks. The Kebal Trail has a named start and end point, Nötholmen offers paths through woodland and coastal landscapes, and the marina and Röudden provide further points of reference along Kebalviken.

Hiking trails and landscapes around Kebal

The Kebal Trail follows the Kuststigen and starts and ends at the Strömstad Golfklubb golf course. Viewed from the centre of Strömstad, the golf course is on the other side of Kebalviken. This makes it possible to locate the trail’s start and end point in relation to the bay and the town centre, without equating the route with a walking time.

The Kuststigen Kebal–Seläter is a 3 km hiking trail. It runs between Nötholmen and Seläter through residential areas, over hills and along stretches of shoreline. Houses, changes in elevation and proximity to the shore therefore characterise the sections of the route described. Before hiking, check the markings and trail conditions, as both can change.

The Nötholmen nature reserve is located right by Kebal and the Strömstad Spa Resort. In the surrounding area, there are around 3 km of scenic paths through varied woodland and coastal landscapes. This landscape character differs from the residential areas and hills mentioned for the Kuststigen Kebal–Seläter. Nötholmen also contains traces and remains from Charles XII’s siege of Norway. Those interested in regional history will find these historical remnants alongside the landscape.

Marina, shoreline and bathing spots

Strömstad Marina is located in Kebalviken and offers berths for large and small boats. The marina has toilets, showers and a laundry room; there is also a shop selling boating supplies. If you are planning to use a berth, check availability in advance, as it can change. This lets you distinguish between the routes and nature attractions in the area and the facilities by the water when planning your trip.

Norra badrundan, a cycling route with bathing spots north of Strömstad, runs near Kebal. It includes Röudden, opposite Kebal’s small-boat harbour. There is a rocky shoreline and a bathing jetty there. The route thus combines cycling with bathing spots; details may vary by season, so check the route information if you are planning the trip.

Ferry and finding your way around

The unstaffed cable ferry Linfärjan Bojan runs between Canning and Kebal across Bojarkilen. If you plan to take the ferry, check the timetable in advance. Together with the marina and the trails, it provides another specific point of reference for finding your way around Kebal.

When making your choice, you can weigh the places mentioned according to your interests: the Kuststigen describes a hiking trail with residential areas, hills and stretches of shoreline; Nötholmen combines woodland and coastal landscapes with historical traces. The marina, Röudden and the ferry offer other points of interest by the water. This lets you assess Kebal based on the activities that matter to you, rather than treating different routes and offerings as the same experience.
