Brevik combines nature, golf and a long church history. If you are looking for a hotel in Brevik, you can shape your travel plans around the things that interest you most: trails and landscapes, golf, or the historic traces at Breviks kyrka.

Beach, Hiking Trails and Landscapes

Vättersvallen is a beach in Breviksbukten, next to Breviks Camping. The Gärdeslingan is a 9.7-kilometer hiking trail marked with white blazes, passing through a varied natural and cultural landscape. Along the route is a distinctive plateau that forms part of the Central Swedish marginal moraine zone. The Röåslingan starts and ends at Breviks Camping. The campsite is therefore a shared point of reference for the beach and the Röåslingan’s starting and ending point; for the Gärdeslingan, the focus is instead on its length and trail markings. The beach and hiking trails offer different ways to enjoy the outdoors: spending time by the water or following a marked route through a natural and cultural landscape.

Stora Röå Nature Reserve is nearby, south of Brevik on the road between Karlsborg and Hjo. If you are locating the area on a map, the reserve’s position south of the town and the road between Karlsborg and Hjo provide useful reference points; the Gärdeslingan, by contrast, has its own stated length and trail markings.

The History of Breviks kyrka

The history of Breviks kyrka goes back a long way. The first church at the site of Breviks kyrka was built between 1199 and 1349. The Lilienstein outside the church porch of Breviks kyrka dates from the 12th or 13th century and is evidence that a church site existed here early on. The woodwork at Breviks kyrka is dated to 1321–1336. These years fall within the broader period given for the first church; thus, the broad dating of the church building and the more precise dating of the woodwork sit side by side.

The cemetery at Breviks kyrka was established in the early Middle Ages. Outside the eastern entrance to Breviks kyrkogård lies the Gråtstenen; relatives of drowned sailors used it to remember those who were missing. It is the only stone of its kind in the Diocese of Skara. The building dates and the Gråtstenen represent different aspects of the history: one tells of construction and craftsmanship, the other of remembrance for drowned sailors.

Golf and Harbor

Breviken Golf & Hotell offers golf courses with 9, 12 or 18 holes. These three hole counts give you a concrete choice about how much golf to include in your stay. Separate from these are courses for the Swedish Green Card: in 2026, they are usually offered on weekends, Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. As the schedule may change, check the current course times before making plans.

There is a boat ramp in the eastern part of Brevik harbor. If you are considering using it in your plans, check with a local source in advance to confirm the current situation.
