Stöllet lies on the eastern bank of the Klarälven. The town offers several different reasons to look for a hotel: the river and its fishing waters, timber rafting, and nature and cultural attractions in the surrounding area. So first consider whether you would like to focus your stay on activities on the water, on the ancient natural forest, or on the history of the region. Canoe trips are subject to specific conditions that you should take into account when planning.

Water, fishing and timber rafting

Korvsjön is close to Stöllet. The lake is a meander of the Klarälven that has been cut off from the river, and is also a popular fishing lake. It is among the fishing waters listed by Norra Ny FVOF. If fishing is part of your travel plans, you can get permits for Norra Ny FVOF’s waters through iFiske.se. This makes it easy to plan fishing as a separate focus alongside other water activities.

There is also a specific option for an independent trip on the Klarälven: visitors can set off from town by canoe or sit-on-top kayak, provided the reception at Klarälvens Camping is staffed and the equipment is available. Check both of these requirements well in advance before making firm plans for your trip.

Those who prefer an organised river activity can use the campsite run by Vildmark i Värmland in Stöllet as a starting point for timber rafting trips along the Klarälven. As part of the one-day timber raft package, participants receive an introduction by the river and build their own raft. The package also includes a trip along the Klarälven to the destination, where the raft is dismantled and the equipment returned.

Forest and nature reserve

The Fänstjärnsskogen Nature Reserve lies northeast of Stöllet, about six kilometres away. It protects a nearly untouched ancient natural forest, home to a 600-year-old pine. This offers a different way to experience nature than the Klarälven and Korvsjön: the focus here is not on the river meander or fishing, but on the ancient forest and its particularly old tree.

History in Norra Ny

Valborgsgården, a local heritage museum and historic farmstead in Norra Ny, is located in Ljusnäs. Its main building dates back at least to the 17th century and was inhabited until the 1940s. If you are considering historic sites as part of your trip, this offers a tangible link to the farm’s former use. A sculpture of Saint Olav commemorates the time when pilgrims passed through here on their way to his tomb in Trondheim. It adds the story of these pilgrims to the history of the building.

Getting there and planning

For travel by public transport, Värmlandstrafik’s route 209 is relevant: it runs daily between Torsby, Värnäs, Stöllet and Malung. As transport information can change, check the current timetable before travelling. This is particularly helpful if you want to coordinate your journey with a scheduled activity.

If you are looking for a hotel in Stöllet, first choose one to suit the purpose of your stay: do you want to focus on fishing, go timber rafting, or visit nature and cultural attractions? For a canoe trip, specifically check whether the reception is staffed and a canoe or sit-on-top kayak is available. For bus journeys, check the current timetable. This will help you match each activity and travel requirement to your plans.
