Landskrona: Culture, Photography and Nature
Accommodation in Landskrona
The Citadel, Landskrona Museum, Landskrona Foto and the municipal Exercisfältet Nature Reserve each offer a different focus. On the coast, a section of the Skåneleden trail between Rydebäck and Landskrona, as well as SUP rentals at Lill-Olas Beach, add distinct activity options.
Getting to Landskrona
Ventrafiken’s terminal is accessible by train or bus; buses stop directly outside the terminal at the Skeppsbron stop. Check connections for your travel date, as transport arrangements may change. This lets you factor the journey into your plans before deciding which themes you want your stay to revolve around.
History and photography
The Citadel of Landskrona was built between 1549 and 1559 by Christian III of Denmark. The construction period and the person who commissioned it give this historic site a clear timeframe. Landskrona Museum offers a different perspective: it is housed in an 18th-century military barracks, presents the history of Swedish advertising and explores Landskrona’s development from a trading town into an industrial city. Compared with the Citadel, whose construction history is tied to specific dates, the museum focuses on advertising history and the city’s transformation. Anton Rothoff’s allotment cottage, built in 1903, adds another historic point of reference with a specific date.
Landskrona Foto is a distinct focus for photography. The centre for photographic images includes exhibitions, events, the history of photography and collections. These different areas offer various points of interest for a trip focused on photography. The Landskrona Foto Festival takes place every two years; the specific dates vary with each edition. If the festival is the reason for your trip, check the dates for the relevant edition and plan accordingly.
Nature and coast
Exercisfältet is a municipal nature reserve in the middle of Landskrona. Its landscape features include walking paths, broad-canopied oak trees and a rich variety of flowers and grasses. If you want to include nature within the city in your plans, this combination offers a specific point of reference. Check the reserve’s current regulations before visiting.
The Skåneleden trail runs along the coast between Rydebäck and Landskrona. This is a different planning option from Exercisfältet: here, a coastal section and two named places are key; there, it is a nature reserve in the middle of Landskrona. Route conditions may change; check them before your hike. You can rent SUP boards at Lill-Olas Beach. The type of activity is another difference: the Skåneleden offers a coastal trail section, while SUP rentals mean watersports at the beach. Rental availability may change; check it if you want to make the activity a firm part of your plans.
