Church Village and Landscape in Skåne

Färingtofta is a church village in hilly terrain north of the Rönne å river. Its relatively high elevation, grazing land and architectural history give the place a distinct character. The church and historic architecture are therefore central to planning your trip, complemented by the rural surroundings and nearby nature. The village grew up along one of the old routes through inland Skåne—another aspect of its local history.

Church and Historic Architecture

When the new Färingtofta kyrka was reconsecrated in 1828, it was named Josephinas kyrka. An earlier building project involved its tower, which was raised by one storey in 1796. The two dates represent different aspects of the church’s history: the tower’s extension and the later reconsecration and naming. The distinctive grey-stone tower retains an older character.

Färingtofta’s historic buildings also include examples of brick architecture from the 1850s and 1860s. Blind brickwork and decorative brick bond are specific design features. These terms draw attention to the treatment of the wall surface and the visible pattern of the brickwork. The village’s architectural history thus brings together different materials and building phases separated in time.

Pastureland, Forest and Klingstorpabäcken

Pastureland dominates the surroundings of the relatively high-lying church village. Färingtofta is also set in hilly woodland with pastures and arable land. Pastures shape the surroundings, without woodland and farmland disappearing from the landscape. Together with the historic buildings, they give the village a rural character, with the landscape and architectural history offering two distinct points of interest for your trip.

The Klingstorpabäcken Nature Reserve lies nearby, outside Färingtofta. Several small gravel roads and paths run through the area; in places, the terrain by the stream is difficult to access. Both points are useful to bear in mind: there are paths, but access by the water is not the same everywhere. Outside the village, Klingstorpabäcken winds through woodland and open land in a hilly landscape. The stream is home to trout and the now-rare freshwater pearl mussel. Nature here encompasses both the shape of the landscape and specific species found in the stream.

Tornsborgs Tivoli and Events

Tornsborgs Tivoli is another point of interest when planning your trip. The venue has a large function hall with room for up to 200 people. Its 2026 programme lists a dance event hosted there by SPF Färingtofta, held on Thursdays every other week from 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Check the specific dates in the programme before your trip so you can include the dance in your plans.
