Trails, forests and geology

Beech forest and pastureland shape the landscape of the municipal Kalvahagen Nature Reserve in Åstorp. At the entrance to the reserve is an arboretum with various tree species found on Söderåsen. Fårahagen has a varied landscape of broad-canopied trees, flowering shrubs and open, flower-rich areas that support a diverse range of insects and birds.
The 3.9 km “Brottets bana” trail runs around the quarry, while the Makadamrundan offers views over it. Klintagumman is a gneiss rock formation at the northernmost tip of Söderåsen. Björnekulla klint, also known as Klinten, is on Söderåsen in the middle of Åstorp. There is a viewpoint with views of northern Helsingborg and the western parts of Åstorp.
Culture and local history
Björnekulla Church was inaugurated on the first Sunday of Advent in 1889. It is a Neo-Gothic brick cruciform church with a plastered and whitewashed façade. The choir windows were designed and painted by artist Erik Olsson of the Halmstad Group as a triptych. A triumphal cross from the late 13th century now stands as an “entrance” to the choir. The church also preserves an early 13th-century baptismal font transferred from the old church.
Perslunds hembygdsgård includes a fully operational Dutch windmill. Its construction features millstones, shafts, wooden gears, sail-covered sails and a hoist for flour sacks. The windmill adds a technical theme to the church’s architectural and furnishing details.
Events such as a Christmas market and craft days are held annually in Perslund. If a Christmas market or craft day is the reason for your trip, check the event dates before planning. Åstorp Art Gallery is located in the library in central Åstorp.
