Enviken can be explored through a range of themes: vibrant 1950s culture, churches with widely differing historical dates, regional forestry, and trails and nature around VÄckelberget. You can make cultural history or nature experiences the focus of your stay.

1950s Culture and Churches

Enviken has a vibrant 1950s culture. It includes rockabilly, a record studio, a petrol station, a café, a hair salon, a vintage shop and cars. Music, shops and vehicles offer additional travel themes alongside the historical sights. Those interested in this era will encounter it in Enviken in a variety of specific places and forms.

The two churches offer a contrast in time: Envikens gamla kyrka dates from 1671, while Envikens kyrka was inaugurated in 1957. Almost three centuries separate these dates. The old church is used for weddings, baptisms and summer entertainment events. For a visit focused on history, the older church can therefore be clearly distinguished by its date from the one inaugurated in 1957. Enviken also has a section of the old pilgrimage route.

Forestry and Events at GörasgÄrden

The forestry museum at GörasgÄrden presents forestry in the Enviken region, covering the period from the 1850s to mechanisation around 1960. This places a clearly defined topic in regional history at the centre. At GörasgÄrden, the local heritage association holds Midsummer celebrations and Göras Days, with various activities and refreshments. GörasgÄrden is open during Advent. The museum, celebrations and Göras Days offer different opportunities to learn about the place and its history.

Trails and Nature at VÄckelberget

In VÄckelberget Nature Reserve, an approximately 1.5-kilometre hiking trail leads from the lower car park to a rest area. For the final section, you can choose between Skogsleden and Klippleden. These two names refer to the trail options available for this part of the route. From the top of the mountain, there are expansive views of Lake Balungen and the surrounding bluish mountains on the horizon.

The plant life is also a feature of the nature reserve and the forests of VĂ„ckelberget. Species found there include small-leaved lime, maple, hazel, common enchanter’s-nightshade, herb-robert, wood millet, Solomon’s seal and mullein. These species are more common in southern Sweden. This information gives nature enthusiasts specific plant species to look out for in the area.

Canoeing, Fishing and Seasonal Experiences

The Balungen–Runn canoe route starts at Balungstrand. MarnĂ€sĂ„n is one of the waterways near Enviken where fishing is good; a fishing licence is required. You can therefore include the canoe route and fishing as separate activities in your travel plans, bearing in mind that fishing requires a permit.

At Grejsans fÀbodar, there are Swedish landrace goats from around Midsummer and throughout the height of summer. Small-scale fÀbod products are also made there and sold in limited quantities. Enviksdagen takes place annually on a Saturday in May and includes, among other things, a classic car rally, a flea market and activities for children. These seasonal and annual events add their own timing to the calendar: Enviksdagen takes place in May, while the goats and production at Grejsans fÀbodar are associated with Midsummer and the height of summer.
