Segart lies in the heart of the Sierra Calderona. Marked hiking trails, named natural landmarks, and historic sights offer a variety of starting points for planning your trip. If you are looking for a hotel in Segart, you can first consider whether you want to focus on hiking or also explore the town’s history. The routes differ in their starting points and courses; the church, Castillo, and Calvario add further destinations to the natural attractions.

Hiking Trails Around Segart

The GR 10 E02 Segart–Serra stage starts at Plaça de l'Ajuntament in Segart. It is a linear route, 9.80 km long. Its starting point, route type, and distance therefore provide concrete reference points for planning your hikes. The main GR 10 route from Segart follows the old path, climbs through the Barranc del Garbí, and gains elevation via a quarry. It continues to Pla del Garbí, beside Puntal de l’Abella. This means you can assess the stage not only by its length, but also by its named sections and landscape landmarks.

The marked trails listed for Segart include the camino de la Mola. Another option is the Route de los 6, 7, 8 o 9 Picos de la Calderona. It starts at the Santo Espíritu recreational area and passes through the municipal areas of Albalat dels Tarongers, Segart, and Gilet. Its starting point therefore differs from that of the GR 10 stage, which begins at Plaça de l'Ajuntament. When comparing routes, these details can help you distinguish between their respective starting points.

Landscape and Natural Landmarks

La Mola de Segart is considered Segart’s most outstanding natural landmark. Another named natural landmark is Font del Salt, which lies almost on the border between Segart and Nàquera. During periods of heavy rainfall, a waterfall can form there. This water feature is therefore dependent on a particular weather condition; bear this in mind when planning a visit to Font del Salt.

Church, Castillo, and Calvario

The Iglesia Parroquial de la Purísima Concepción dates from the 18th century. Next to the town hall is Segart’s former public washhouse, which can be visited. The Castillo de Segart offers further insights into the town’s history: the fortress is of Muslim origin, and remains of the outer walls and main tower are still visible.

These visible remains indicate that the Castillo was part of a larger defensive complex. This is one possible historical interpretation of the surviving structure. Together with the church and former washhouse, the Castillo offers a different perspective on Segart than the hiking trails and natural landmarks: here, the focus is on architectural history and the remains that can still be seen.

The Calvario de Segart is considered a recommended hike and is a point of interest offering views and a hermitage. The Ermita de la Santa Creu lies near Segart cemetery, at the end of the Calvario ascent. A description from April 2021 places the start of the path near the church square and says it passes cypress trees and Stations of the Cross marked with painted tiles. As trail conditions can change, check them before your visit.
