Canet D'en Berenguer brings together coastal scenery and local history: the Paseo MarĂtimo runs along the beach, the dunes define the natural landscape, and the historic town center is home to an 18th-century Baroque church. The lighthouse, Puerto Siles and recurring festivals offer different ways to plan your trip.

Seafront Promenade and Dune Landscape

The Paseo Marítimo de Canet d’en Berenguer is 1,400 meters long. It runs along the beach and blends into the natural dune landscape. The Cordón dunar de Canet has its own connection to nature: it serves as a resting and breeding area for the Kentish plover. The promenade and dunes thus represent different aspects of the coastal landscape—a clearly defined beach path and a habitat whose importance is also evident in its wildlife.

A Lighthouse with a Long History

The Faro de Canet d’en Berenguer was built in 1904. It is 30 meters tall, has a range of 25 nautical miles, and stands 300 meters inland. Its location has an even longer history: a 16th-century watchtower once stood here, warning of corsair ships. The lighthouse’s outdoor area offers panoramic views of the Mediterranean; how clearly they can be seen depends on the weather. The interior is not open to the public. Check the current access conditions before visiting.

Puerto Siles and Activities on the Water

Puerto Siles adds a marina to the coastal attractions, with 579 berths for boats from 5 to 12 meters long. Capacity may change if the infrastructure is modified. Activities at the harbor include sailing, canoeing, fishing and diving. Check availability and providers before your visit. Canet d’en Berenguer thus offers two distinct options: a long stretch of beach and a harbor with a range of maritime activities.

Town Center and Local History

The Iglesia parroquial de San Pedro ApĂłstol is located in the historic town center. Built in the 18th century, the Baroque church is designated a Bien de Relevancia Local. The Museo EtnolĂłgico de Canet offers a different perspective on local history. Housed in an old farmhouse, it displays Valencian clothing and tools used in fishing and agriculture. The museum also features an eight-square-meter diorama depicting the town in the 18th and 19th centuries. The museum is currently closed to the public; check current access arrangements before visiting. The church and museum point to different facets of local history: sacred architecture, clothing and the everyday world of work.

Festivals and Cultural Program

The Certamen de Teatre Vila de Canet provides a platform for amateur theater groups. Check the current cultural calendar for the dates and program. Local festivals may also influence your choice of travel dates: Sant Antoni is celebrated in January and ends with the blessing of the animals. Sant Joan takes place on June 23 and includes bonfires on the beach. On September 8, the feast of the Virgen contra las Fiebres is celebrated with a solemn procession.

The tradition of the Virgen contra las Fiebres dates back to the 17th century. According to local tradition, a miraculous painting appeared at that time and was credited with healing the inhabitants. If you want to plan your trip around a festival or theater program, check the current cultural calendar in advance.
