When looking for a hotel in Isla Plana, you can also decide based on which themes you want to shape your stay. Coastal and marine nature, an easy hiking route, and historical connections each offer a different focus. This lets you see which highlights suit your travel interests.

Coastal nature

One of the best-preserved Posidonia seagrass meadows in the area lies off Isla Plana. The sandy seabed off Isla Plana offers good conditions for diving. These are two distinct aspects of the underwater world: the Posidonia meadow is a specific natural feature, while the sandy seabed is what makes the area suitable for diving. The natural environment and the activity complement each other, but appeal to different interests.

The beaches of Isla Plana are used by loggerhead turtles for laying eggs and nesting. If you find a nest on a beach, keep your distance, call 112, and do not shine a device on the nest. Check the signs at the site during your visit; local authorities may update the protection guidelines.

Cave and island

The Cueva del Agua in Isla Plana is a flooded cave with thermal water; its shaft reaches a depth of 26 metres. It is also listed among the active tourism offerings of the Region of Murcia. This highlights two aspects: the cave’s features, including its thermal water and depth, and its additional connection to active tourism.

A small island near Isla Plana can be reached on foot from the town. It is one of the islands and islets associated with the Mediterranean Coast’s natural parks. For nature enthusiasts, it therefore combines easy access from the town with a broader connection to nature.

Traces of history

The Roman-era Los Tinteros archaeological site covers around 15,000 square metres. The Baños de la Marrana thermal baths were built at the end of the 19th century, first opened to the public in May 1902, and later fell into disuse. Together, the two sites represent different periods in history: a Roman-era archaeological site and the construction and use of thermal baths from the late 19th century until their first public opening in the early 20th century.
