When looking for a hotel in Sanchidrián, the reason for your trip may be a deciding factor: local attractions focus on sporting interests, church architecture and festival traditions. Whether you plan to cycle or play golf, explore local history or take a festival date into account will shape the questions you have about your stay.

Countryside and getting there

Sanchidrián lies in the flat landscapes of La Moraña, near the Voltoya River. A cycling route leads from Sanchidrián to Ávila. As of 14 May 2022, the route mostly follows flat paths with gentle inclines and descents. If you include it in your plans, check the latest route information before setting out.

The CL-7 road begins in Sanchidrián. A railway station is located nearby; historically, it served travelers from the region. If you plan to use the station to get there, check current train services.

Golf and padel

As of August 2026, the La Almarza golf course by Wegolf in Sanchidrián has 18 holes and a par of 72.

The municipal sports facility also has a padel court. On 27 August 2026, the municipal booking page offered online reservations for it. If padel is part of your travel plans, check current booking options in advance.

Churches and historical connections

Hernando Luis de Victoria is buried in the parish church of Sanchidrián; his epitaph describes him as a noble hidalgo. Another historical connection concerns Tomás Luis de Victoria: several of his direct relatives had close ties to Sanchidrián.

The Church of San Martín Obispo has a single-nave layout. The broad presbytery is covered by a ribbed vault, and the apse is rectangular. The building’s features can therefore be described in three specific points: the nave, the presbytery vault and the shape of the apse.

The grounds of the Ermita del Cristo are decorated with bases that apparently came from an old Stations of the Cross. On the hermitage’s feast day, the image is carried in a procession adorned with rosquillas. The qualification about the origin of the bases is important: they apparently came from an old Stations of the Cross.

Festivals and local traditions

The Santa Águeda celebration was described in 2024 as a continuing local tradition. It includes a procession through the town accompanied by dulzaina and tamboril. An account from February 2026 describes women of different ages coming together; the event ended with a shared meal and a lively dance.

The program for the San Roque celebrations, from 13 to 18 August 2026, included a procession with dulzaina and drum, a bullfighting festival and traditional dances by the folklore group “Entre ríos de Arévalo.”

The municipal calendar listed celebrations in honor of Cristo de la Vera Cruz for 1 and 2 May 2026. The program included religious events, cultural activities and community gatherings. Dates and program items may vary from year to year; if a festival is a reason for your trip, check the dates for the year of your stay.

One example of the cultural use of the Church of San Martín Obispo is a charity Christmas concert held there in December 2025.
