Torremocha brings together protected buildings and religious art, recurring festival dates and a landscape within a ZEPA. This gives you several ways to choose when to travel: architecture, the festival calendar and nature. The themes that matter most to you can shape the focus of your stay.

Historic buildings and churches

Cruz del Puente Grande is protected as an Asset of Cultural Interest (BIC). The municipal protection catalogue of 2023 lists this designation. Puente Grande is under comprehensive heritage protection; the classification was published in the 2023 Diario Oficial de Extremadura.

The parish church of La Asunción is a Baroque building dating from the 16th to the 18th century. Its architectural volumes are also noteworthy: the forms and proportions of its structures shape the way the architecture is viewed. The church houses an articulated figure of Christ, carved by Tomás de la Huerta in 1609. Here, appreciation of a building with a broad historical timeframe sits alongside a precisely dated work of religious art.

The hermitages can also be distinguished by period and style. Ermita de Nuestra Señora de Torralba is a 16th-century hermitage in a vernacular style. Ermita de San Antón dates from the 18th century and is also vernacular in character. Ermita del Cristo is likewise dated to the 18th century; its style is described as vernacular Baroque. Visitors interested in religious buildings can compare these three different classifications.

A 16th-century house preserves a coat of arms of the Order of Santiago and original interior remains. It has been extensively altered and is now used as a residence. This building brings together surviving older details and later changes.

Festival dates and traditions

The festival calendar offers three different date markers. The Feria de Ganados takes place every year on 23 May; check the annual programme before travelling. The Cristo del Humilladero patron saint festivities run from 14 to 17 September, although the exact programme may vary. The Romería de La Pica falls on the Tuesday after Easter; its details may also vary from year to year. This distinction is useful when choosing your dates: the Feria and the patron saint festivities are tied to fixed calendar dates, while the date of the Romería depends on Easter.

A traditional game in Torremocha is played by young men and women using hard-boiled eggs. If you are interested in how an event is being held this year, ask locally for the latest details.

Landscape, route and swimming pool

Torremocha is part of a ZEPA protected under a European directive. It includes a pseudo-steppe plain and scrubland. This gives the area a distinct landscape setting alongside its buildings, which you can take into account when choosing the focus of your stay.

The Ruta de las Zonas Húmedas de Torremocha is 8 kilometres long. Check the trail conditions locally before planning your route.

Torremocha has a municipal swimming pool. Check which access and opening hours apply seasonally before travelling.
