Vandellòs lies inland in the valley of the Llastres River. If you are looking for a hotel in Vandellòs, you can plan your stay around specific travel interests: the hiking trails lead to a range of landscape and historical destinations, while the village’s church, remnants of fortifications, and mill each offer a theme of their own. The Festa Major at the end of September, as well as the road and bus service, also provide practical points of reference for planning.

Hikes with different destinations

There are three named routes to choose from, each with a different destination. The Vandellòs–Masboquera route runs through the Serra de Santa Marina. Vandellòs–Remullà leads to the uninhabited settlement of Remullà and the Font del Rentador spring. The Vandellòs–Figuerola–Genessies hike leads to the Iberian settlement of Mola de Genessies. You can therefore choose according to what interests you most: a route through the Serra, a destination with an uninhabited settlement and a spring, or a site associated with Iberian history. This lets you distinguish the routes by the types of destinations they offer, rather than treating them as three similar hikes.

Church, fortification remains, and Ca la Torre

The parish church of Sant Andreu in Vandellòs dates from 1773 and has three naves and a dome. The surviving remains of medieval fortifications belong to a different historical context. These include a defensive tower from the 16th century, attached to Ca la Torre. The church and the tower are therefore two clearly distinct historical points of reference. The interpretation centre in Ca la Torre focuses on the history of Vandellòs, its rural past, and local traditions. These themes broaden the focus beyond individual buildings to include the history of the village and its rural heritage.

Mill, olive oil, and Festa Major

The original rooms and machinery of the mill have been preserved at the Molí de Vandellòs. You can also learn about the world of olive oil there and discover the entire production process. The mill’s original features and the production process complement one another: the mill preserves its original equipment, while the olive oil experience focuses on the process from start to finish. This offers a different way to explore the village than its church and fortification remains.

The Festa Major of Vandellòs, held in honour of Sant Cosme and Sant Damià, takes place at the end of September. If you would like to plan your stay around the celebration, check the specific event dates for your travel period.

Getting there and finding your way around

The C-44 provides access from the inland area of the municipality of Vandellòs i l’Hospitalet de l’Infant towards Lleida, Aragón, and the Ebro Valley. A regular bus service operated by Plana connects Tivissa, Vandellòs, Masboquera, Masriudoms, L’Hospitalet de l’Infant, Miami-Platja, Cambrils, and Reus. The road information describes the inland area’s regional orientation, while the bus service connects a specific sequence of places. Check the current timetable with the operator before travelling by bus.

The Mirador del Turó del Castell in Vandellòs can be reached by stairs that are equipped with handrails and carved into the rock. They begin at the lower end of Carrer Amunt, next to the C-44. This gives you a named starting point to help you find the way to the viewpoint.
