Hiking trails around Boldís Sobirà
A hiking route between Boldís Sobirà and Boldís Jussà follows the GR11 from Boldís Sobirà. It takes you along traditional paths and through forest sections, then returns to Boldís Sobirà through a wooded stretch. A route described in 2024 links the historic path between the two villages with the path on the sunny side, the GR11, making a circular hike possible.
Forest, views, and trails to Tavascan
The trail to the Mirador del Bosc de Boldís leads from Boldís Sobirà along a forest track through a forest of black pines and firs. At the viewpoint, you can enjoy striking views over the valleys of Cardós. Both the forest section and the panorama define this trail.
The GR11 also features on the hiking route to Pic de Tudela: from Boldís Sobirà, the route follows it to Pla de Tudela. During the ascent, views open up over the Vall de Ginestarre and the Vall de Cardós. If you compare the routes, this one takes in the two named valleys; the trail to the Mirador, by contrast, leads through the forest to a viewpoint over the valleys of Cardós.
The hiking route from Boldís Sobirà to Tavascan offers uninterrupted views of the valley, forests, and mountain meadows along the way. It passes old bordes (traditional mountain farmhouses) before descending to Tavascan. The La Porta del Cel route passes through the centre of Boldís Sobirà and then continues along an old path to Tavascan. Trail conditions on this route may vary; take this into account when planning.
Sant Fruitós: church and art
The parish church of Sant Fruitós in Boldís Sobirà is dedicated to Saint Fructuosus. Built in 1817, it has a restrained, simple neoclassical style. The single-nave interior has a lunette vault over three transverse round arches, and the chancel has a flat end wall. When exploring the church, you can look at both its architectural style and its layout and vaulting.
The church also houses two Baroque altarpieces from former houses in the village, one dating from 1703 and the other from 1711. The construction date of the church and the earlier dates of the altarpieces therefore represent different periods. The provenance and age of these two works, along with the architecture, are part of the cultural picture of Sant Fruitós.
Historical records
Boldís Sobirà is documented in the 1136 will of Arnau de Prenyanosa and in the 1146 consecration charter of Sant Martí de Cardós. The two dates belong to different historical documents and add an earlier written record to the later construction dates of the church and altarpieces.
