Sant Esteve Sesrovires: Wine, Culture and Nature
Accommodation in Sant Esteve Sesrovires
Sant Esteve Sesrovires offers a variety of ways to plan a stay: the history of the Església Parroquial, paths in Parc Canals i Nubiola, and the wine and cava tradition. The gently rolling terrain, streams and Mediterranean riverside woodland complete the landscape.
The Església Parroquial: Building History and Imagery
Construction of the Església Parroquial began in 1889; it was consecrated on November 13, 1891. It replaced a church dating from the 17th century. The church was designed by Josep Domènech i Estapà ; its architecture combines Neo-Gothic and Neo-Romanesque elements. Two styles thus come together in one building, while its history of construction also connects it to an earlier predecessor. The stained-glass windows depict scenes from the lives of saints. Saint Stephen appears in the tympanum, and the bas-relief depicts scenes from his martyrdom. Both the period in which it was built and its design offer insight into its cultural and historical context: its architecture and religious imagery provide different perspectives on the same parish church.
Paths and Facilities in Parc Canals i Nubiola
Parc Canals i Nubiola has an area with eight barbecue grills, a picnic area and a playground. An outdoor fitness trail measuring 1 km adds to these facilities. The Ruta Verda is separate: this 5.7 km greenway loop starts and ends in the park. The distinction is useful when planning: the fitness trail and the loop are two different routes of different lengths; the Ruta Verda returns to its starting point in the Parc.
Winegrowing, Cava and Regional Traditions
Extensive vineyards with D.O. Penedès designation are part of the town. The municipality's three wineries produce wines and cavas. The cherry is considered the town's best-known fruit. For travelers who would like to learn more about winegrowing and production, Finca Ca n'Estella offers a guided tour of its vineyards and winery, with a wine tasting and a snack.
A 2025 municipal description lists the tenth Fira del Vi i del Cava for October 19 and highlights the municipality's wineries and winegrowing tradition. Program highlights named for this edition include workshops on wine tasting and making cosmetics from grapes. If you would like to plan a stay around a specific Fira date, check the event details before traveling. The grape connects both program items.
The Trobada de Puntaires is also part of Sant Esteve Sesrovires’ cultural traditions. Held since 1993, the gathering brings together around 500 lacemakers from across the country.
