La Pobla De Lillet: Bridges, Gardens and Railway Tradition
Accommodation in La Pobla De Lillet
When looking for a hotel for a stay in La Pobla De Lillet, you can plan your trip around different interests: the history of the town centre, gardens and railway heritage, or marked trails. The sights and routes offer concrete ways to shape your stay around your own plans.
Bridges and the historic town centre
Pont Vell dates from the 14th century and is the oldest of the bridges currently spanning the Llobregat. You can explore a route with information panels in the historic centre. It connects, among other places, Font d’en GĂĽell, Pont Vell, Plaça de l’Ajuntament and the mural about the Carta de Poblament with Plaça del MolĂ, el Verger and Carrer EsglĂ©sia. Other stops include Plaça del Fort, the castle and the church.
On Pujolet hill, narrow cobbled streets shape the character of the town centre. The Església Parroquial houses two distinctly different works: the Crist Majestat, a polychrome Romanesque wood carving from the 12th century, and the two-metre-high sculptural group Assumpció de la Verge by Frederic Marès. The Ruta de les Fonts also includes Font del Güell, which is beside Pont Vell and surrounded by lime trees.
Gardens and railway history
The Jardins Artigas are based on a garden design by Antoni GaudĂ for the Artigas family. The design was created after the family had extended their hospitality to GaudĂ. The visitor route includes a waterfall and an artificial grotto with catenary arches, as well as springs, two stone bridges, a square and the Glorieta viewpoint. The garden visit can thus be explored through its different architectural and landscape features.
The Tren del Ciment has a history as a railway line connecting the former Asland cement factory in Castellar de n’Hug with Guardiola de BerguedĂ . Its route is 3.5 kilometres long and has four stations. The exhibition “Ferrocarrils secundaris, industrials i turĂstics a la vall del Llobregat” can be visited at the former railway station in La Pobla De Lillet. The La Pobla De Lillet tourist office is also located at the station. Tickets for the Jardins Artigas and the Tren del Ciment are sold there. Two free parking spaces are available for customers at the station.
Choose trails by theme
The Xarxa de Camins trail network currently includes four marked routes of low difficulty. Each route comes with information about sights and downloadable links to the trails on Wikiloc. As route information and linked files may change, it is advisable to check the details before setting out.
The Camà de les Sequoies starts at Plaça de l’Ajuntament and follows marked paths towards the Ventaiola forest. Along the way, the route passes Font del Roure. It is considered a point of interest; the route description recommends stopping there for a drink. The destination is the sequoias, which are 200 metres from Ventaiola House. The Ruta de les Fonts, by contrast, focuses on fountains and leads to Font del Güell beside Pont Vell.
