Los Menores combines a rural character with a history that can be read in the houses beside the Barranco de Ajabo, a repurposed packing shed and a historic path. If you are looking for a hotel in Los Menores, these themes can help you match the place to your travel interests: settlement history, sacred art or traces of earlier agriculture.

Village Character and Historic Routes

The Barrio Los Menores is a semi-concentrated rural settlement on the left bank of the Barranco de Ajabo. In this section, the ravine is also known as Las Barandas.

The first houses on the slope of the Barranco de Ajabo date from the 16th century. The historic Camino Real de Guía de Isora also passed through Los Menores; the village was a crossroads along this route. The houses locate early settlement on the slope, while the Camino adds the historic route through the village.

The Ermita de Los Menores

The Ermita de Los Menores is housed in a former packing shed belonging to the Compañía Fyffes. The shed was donated in 1979 and converted into a church by local residents.

The Ermita contains an image of the Virgen de Fátima. According to oral tradition, it came from Olot to Adeje in the 1950s and was donated to the parish. It also houses the image of the Virgen de la Encarnación, donated by Doña María Álvarez Hernández in 1997 and brought from Valencia. The images thus represent different journeys: for the Virgen de Fátima, oral accounts of its origins and its donation are central; for the Virgen de la Encarnación, the donor, year and origin in Valencia are significant.

Boca del Paso–La Quinta Route

Along the Boca del Paso–La Quinta route, you can see traces of earlier agriculture: threshing floors, old cultivated terraces, stone and wooden water channels, cisterns, and the remains of former farmhouses. The route ends at the Ermita de Santa Margarita, which dates from the late 16th century.

The different features offer tangible evidence of different aspects of earlier land use. Threshing floors and terraces are associated with fieldwork and crop processing; channels and cisterns show how water was managed, while the remains of former farmhouses bear witness to earlier agricultural buildings. The Camino Real de Guía de Isora passed through Los Menores; by contrast, the Boca del Paso–La Quinta route focuses on agricultural traces and the hermitage at its endpoint.
