Cala Pi can be explored through several distinct interests: the beach, a visible defence tower, the walking path to Cap Blanc and a cycling tour that passes through Cala Pi each offer a different focus for your stay. If you are looking for a hotel for a trip to Cala Pi, you can first consider whether you would most like to plan around the beach, coastal history or an activity on foot or by bike.

Beach and Coastal Landscape

The beach is named after the evergreen pine tree, which is common on the island. Its south-facing position, deep inlet into the coastline and steep sides shape the coastal landscape. Because of these features, the beach is considered suitable on days with Tramuntana or Llevant winds. Llevant winds are common in Mallorca during the summer months. Local wind and sea conditions vary, so conditions on the day of your visit may differ from this general description.

Tower and Escars

The 16th-century defence tower can be seen from the beach. The walking path from Cala Pi to Cap Blanc offers a different view of it: from there, you can see the tower on the opposite side of the bay.

On the right-hand shore of Cala Pi are the escars, shelters with ramps for traditional fishing boats. They are still in use; this may change. The tower and the escars represent two different aspects of the coast: defence on the one hand, and shelter for traditional fishing boats on the other. If the current use of the escars is important to you, ask locally for the latest information.

Walking Path and Cycling Tour

You can include the walking path from Cala Pi to Cap Blanc in your plans; it offers views of the defence tower across the bay. By bike, the 81-kilometre Cap Enderrocat–Cala Pi tour passes through Cala Pi. It is rated as not very challenging and takes approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes. This also makes it possible to experience Cala Pi as part of a longer cycling tour. The walking path and cycling tour have different focuses: one offers a view of the tower from the opposite side of the bay, while the other follows a route through Cala Pi.

Getting There and Finding Your Way

The beach is easy to reach by car and has free parking. There is also a cleaning service and recycling bins at the beach. Parking conditions and beach services may change; check the latest information before setting out, and ask locally before relying on these facilities.

For orientation beyond the beach, two nearby distances may be useful: Cala Pi is 4 kilometres from the Talayotic settlement of Capocorb and 17 kilometres from Llucmajor. Capocorb is therefore the nearer of the two reference points, and Llucmajor the farther away.
