Campanet in Mallorca has a distinct village centre and attractions throughout the municipality. Plaça Major and the old town define the village; the Coves de Campanet, the Fonts Ufanes, Ullaró and Pou d’En Gatell are located within the municipality. This makes it possible to consider the village character, nature and rural landscape as different focal points for your stay.

Village centre, church and weekly market

Plaça Major is the heart of Campanet. Cafés and terraces give the square its everyday character; a weekly market is also held there every Tuesday. If you plan to visit the market, check the dates before your trip, as market arrangements may change.

The old town is characterised by narrow streets and the façades of traditional village houses. The Baroque church of Inmaculada Concepción stands on Plaça Major. The square and church provide a clear landmark for exploring the village centre; the historic character of the village is also evident in its narrow streets and house façades.

Caves and natural phenomena

The Coves de Campanet are located within the municipality. The cave is 60 metres above sea level, covers an area of about 3,200 square metres and has a walkable circuit of just under 500 metres. The area and circuit describe different scales: the extent of the cave and the length of the visitor route. The Coves were discovered in 1945 and opened to the public on 10 November 1948.

The Fonts Ufanes in the GabellĂ forest are another natural attraction. They are designated a natural monument and are an intermittent hydrogeological phenomenon that occurs after heavy rainfall. If you plan to make the Fonts Ufanes a focal point of your visit, bear in mind that they depend on rainfall: their appearance depends not just on the season, but on sufficient precipitation.

History and landscape in the municipality

The chapel of Sant Miquel lies on the outskirts of Campanet. It dates from the 13th century and is just a few metres from the Fonts Ufanes and the Coves de Campanet. Easter celebrations in Campanet include a pilgrimage to Sant Miquel on Easter Monday and Easter Tuesday. Check the dates before your trip if you would like to attend the pilgrimage.

Pou d’En Gatell is a historic public well within the municipality. It includes a livestock trough and a washing area. These two facilities illustrate the well’s different uses: it served both as a watering place for animals and as a washing area.

UllarĂł is a small hamlet in the municipality of Campanet, surrounded by paths, dry-stone walls and open land. The area around Campanet is considered suitable for hiking in mountainous surroundings. For a different kind of trip planning, the 84.2-kilometre Llogarets del Raiguer circular cycling route passes through Campanet. It involves a very different time and distance commitment from a visit to the village centre. Check road conditions and route access before setting out.
