Vichayito is a coastal destination shaped by Playa Vichayito. The beach is 3 km long and has fine, white sand; the waves are gentle. Hotels and tourist restaurants are located a few metres from the sea along the coast. Vichayito is more a collection of these offerings than a single, continuous town.

Beach and Landscape

The water at Playa Vichayito ranges in colour from blue to turquoise to light blue. The landscape includes two ravines: Quebrada del Chino and Quebrada Vichayito. The Vichayo plant grows in the dunes; in the surrounding area, it serves as food for foxes and goats. Seaweed is also part of the observable flora. The coastline is therefore connected to landscape features that extend beyond the sandy beach.

Travel Season and Wildlife Watching

PROMPERÚ recommends visiting between December and April, describing this period as sunny and suitable for swimming and water sports. This is seasonal guidance, not a forecast for individual days. Long-term climate figures for the beach include wind speeds of 20 to 30 knots, temperatures of up to 31 °C in summer and 25 °C in winter. Whales and turtles may be observed between August and November; check locally before travelling to confirm this seasonal possibility. The periods have different highlights: December to April is recommended for sunshine, swimming and water sports, while August to November offers the possibility of observing marine wildlife. Blue-footed boobies and brown pelicans are also among the species you may see at the beach.

Water Sports and Land-Based Activities

Conditions at the beach are considered suitable for kitesurfing, kayaking and windsurfing. Snorkelling is another activity. The range of water sports also includes paddleboarding, diving to observe marine species, and boat or launch trips. Artisanal fishing is another possible activity; participation depends on local providers and conditions. Deep-sea fishing is also listed as an activity, although local availability may vary. Land-based activities include photography, landscape-focused pursuits and nature walks. Walking paths and picnic areas are among the public facilities; check their condition before visiting.
