Villa Nougués combines local history and landscape with activities on foot and by bicycle. The townscape, the hike to Huaicondo Waterfall and the cycling route through several towns are important points of reference when planning your trip.

Landscape, Architecture and History

Aristocratic mansions stand out among the green hills; their architecture shows European influences. Pine trees and palms are part of Villa Nougués’ vegetation. Hydrangeas and violets also bloom thanks to the microclimate. On walks, you can take in the buildings and plant life together. Light clothing and comfortable footwear are recommended for walks; since seasonal suitability may vary, take the time of year into account when preparing.

Villa Nougués was established in the late 19th century, when sugar entrepreneur Luis Nougués built his house there. The town is considered one of the first villas in Tucumán. The Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes is another attraction in Villa Nougués. In the Lules Department, Jesuits first cultivated sugarcane in Tucumán among the ruins of San José de Lules.
