Funes: Culture, Museums and Hotels
Accommodation in Funes
Funes offers visitors several cultural and leisure activities: museums cover aviation and the town’s development, alongside cycling culture, stargazing and events around town. This lets you choose what to focus on in Funes based on the themes you want to shape your stay, rather than just a single activity. If your trip is centered on a specific event, check the latest dates in advance.
Museums exploring aviation and local history
The Museo Pedagógico del Liceo Aeronáutico Militar explores the development of aviation in Argentina, including its pioneers, significant achievements and the development of aerospace technology. The Museo Ferroviario Juan Murray, by contrast, tells the story of Funes’s origins and development. The two museums have distinct focuses: aviation and technology in an Argentine context at one, and the town’s history at the other. This makes it easy to choose a cultural focus: are you interested in aviation history or the town’s development?
Cycling culture, stargazing and events
Funes also invites visitors to enjoy experiences related to cycling culture. The Observatorio AstronĂłmico hosts stargazing evenings. These themes offer a different focus from the museums: one centers on cycling culture, the other on the stars. If you want to plan your trip around a stargazing evening, check the latest dates in advance.
On Saturday, July 4, 2026, the Expreso Funesito offered a free family ride through the city during the winter holidays. The program also included a children’s show. The ride departed from Museo Juan Murray, and places were limited for each time slot. This example combines a ride through the city with a stage show and limited attendance per time slot.
In March 2025, Punto Funes was scheduled to host the Copa 150 Años Funes, a stop on the Circuito Argentino de Vóley de Playa. The Copa was planned to include men’s, women’s and mixed categories. The planned tournament therefore had a sporting focus, while other event examples centered on music, family programs or environmental education.
A family event on environmental education, with games, workshops and a film, was planned for February 2025 at Mercado Don Bosco. Funes Vibra is considered a traditional, recurring music festival. In February 2024, it took place along Calle HipĂłlito Yrigoyen, which was turned into a pedestrian street for the event. Admission was free, and live music was part of the program. Funes Vibra also included a shopping area along Callejuela Bohemia, featuring hundreds of merchants and artisans.
The bands Revivals and Mácula performed live at the traditional Paseo de la Estación, where children’s shows were also held. An event at the promenade featured food and drink as well as a shopping area set up by merchants from Callejuela Bohemia. These examples differ not only in theme but also in format, ranging from stage shows and music to sports competitions and shopping areas.
Plaza, skatepark and Mercado Don Bosco
Plaza San José was completely renovated and fitted with new playground equipment. Skatepark Municipal is described as a venue specifically equipped for safe, educational skateboarding. A municipal skateboarding workshop held in July 2024 was aimed at children over eight. For skateboarding, the skatepark offers a different focus from the playground equipment at the plaza; the workshop adds a specific program example for a particular age group.
Mercado Don Bosco is a cultural, social and gastronomic project in Funes. The environmental education program planned for February 2025 added a specific family event to this offering, with games, workshops and a film. The Mercado therefore brings together gastronomy and culture, as well as community and educational themes.
