Venado Tuerto: Discover Culture, Plazas and Nature
Accommodation in Venado Tuerto
Venado Tuerto offers a range of starting points for planning your trip: public plazas, local cultural history, events and nature in the surrounding area. The places and themes below can help you tailor your stay to your interests.
Plaza San MartĂn: Landmarks and Points of Interest
Plaza San MartĂn features sculptures of San MartĂn, Casey and a deer, as well as the Pirámide de Mayo. Every year on August 17, the plaza hosts Santa Fe Province’s official ceremony commemorating General JosĂ© de San MartĂn. The plaza thus brings together prominent memorials and a set date on the city’s annual calendar.
The plaza also has practical features to help visitors find their way: tactile paving helps people with visual impairments navigate, and ramps for universal accessibility are available at every entrance. The renovation also created two inclusive play areas—one for children aged 0 to 6 and the other for children aged 6 to 12. This means the same plaza brings together historical references and amenities for different age groups.
Cultural History in Houses and on Stage
The history of the march “San Lorenzo” leads to Cayetano Silva: in 1901, he composed the piece in his historic house on Calle Maipú in Venado Tuerto and dedicated it to Colonel Pablo Riccheri. Riccheri asked Silva to change the name; the work was eventually titled “San Lorenzo.”
Another cultural landmark is the Casa Museo Cayetano Silva. It reopened in 2023, on the occasion of Venado Tuerto’s 139th anniversary, with a themed exhibition on the city’s origins and founding. The exhibition at the time featured objects and historical documents. In 2024, the Casa Histórica Cayetano Silva housed the Museo Regional, the Archivo Histórico and the Banda Municipal Cayetano Silva. The Cine Teatro Verdi is also part of the local music history: Carlos Gardel and his companion, the Uruguayan José Razzano, performed in its auditorium.
Events with Different Dates
La Noche de los Museos takes place every year in Venado Tuerto. The program for the November 2025 edition included guided tours, art exhibitions, live performances and interactive workshops. The program may vary by venue and edition. If you would like to plan your trip around this event, check the dates and program for the specific edition.
On August 30, 2026, Parque Municipal General Belgrano once again hosted the “Venite al Parque” fair. The fair brings together local businesses, sustainability and family recreation. Its traditional offerings include direct sales of produce from market gardens and nurseries, food vendors, and a breakfast area.
Parque Municipal General Belgrano has three swimming pools, an athletics track, a barbecue area, two recreation areas and children’s play equipment. You can enjoy the park for both the fair and its recreational facilities.
