Renca brings together religious traditions, historic sites and the banks of the Río Conlara. You can plan your stay around several highlights: the church and Casa Histórica, the festivities surrounding Cristo de Renca, or the Balneario Municipal.

Church, Casa Histórica and Plaza

The Iglesia de Nuestro Señor de Renca was built in 1732 by Jesuits from Chile. It is an important landmark in the town’s religious history and also plays a role in the annual Fiesta de Renca. If you are interested in historic buildings and religious traditions, Renca offers two connected themes to explore during your stay.

Opposite Plaza Granaderos Puntanos is the historic house “Gobernador Santos Ortiz.” It was converted into the Casa Provincial de Gobernadores. Historical objects belonging to José Santos Ortiz and other local governors are on display there. Its location opposite the plaza makes the two sites neighboring stops that you can visit together during your stay.

The plaza is in the center of Renca and commemorates the Granaderos who took part in the independence struggles. Carved wooden benches bear the names of the Granaderos Puntanos, and a large fountain is also a prominent feature of the square. The plaza is intended as a meeting place and a place to relax. Its commemorations, benches and fountain give this central square different functions: it is both a place of remembrance and somewhere to take a break.

Celebrations Around Cristo de Renca

The Fiesta de Renca takes place every year on May 3. Pilgrims from different parts of Argentina venerate the Cristo de Espino and visit the church. The celebration of Cristo de Renca also includes horseback rides, singers and dancing. If you want to plan your trip around this date, check the specific event details before making your plans.

A traditional procession in honor of Cristo de Renca passes through the four streets surrounding the town’s central square. At the Festividad del Divino Señor de Renca, stalls offer handicrafts, religious images, rosaries, traditional foods and souvenirs. The procession, music and dancing, and the stalls each represent a different side of the religious festivities: in addition to commemorating together, visitors can discover local crafts and traditional foods.

By the Río Conlara

The Balneario Municipal de Renca is located on the banks of the Río Conlara. During the 2026 summer season, the balneario’s facilities included river access, a swimming pool, restrooms, barbecue areas and a sales outlet. This makes it different from the historic and religious sites in the town center: here, the focus is on the water and the visitor amenities listed above. If you plan to visit the balneario outside this season, check in advance which facilities will be available during your visit.

Find Hotels in Renca Based on Your Travel Plans

A trip planned around May 3 focuses on the annual fiesta, while a visit with a historical focus centers on the church, Casa Histórica and plaza. The balneario offers another way to experience the town. Use these highlights to organize your trip and find hotels for your stay in Renca.
