Loventué offers different starting points for planning a trip: landscape, agriculture, and cultural heritage. If you are looking for a hotel in Loventué, you can first consider whether Victorica’s nature and event offerings or Carro Quemado’s art history better suits your plans. These places offer different perspectives on the department and can help you decide what to focus on during your stay.

Landscape and Plants in Victorica

Victorica’s tourist route features dunes and centuries-old Caldén trees. The route also includes Bosque Nativo, where native medicinal plants are sampled. This brings landscape and plants together as distinct themes. On a broader scale, the Loventué Department lies within the Caldenar, a native woodland area in La Pampa Province.

Local conditions, access, and the specific arrangements for interpreting Bosque Nativo may vary. Check visitor information in advance.

Historical Traces and the Fiesta in Victorica

Historical points of interest also vary by location. In Victorica, Parque Los Pisaderos is designated a Lugar Histórico Provincial, or provincial historic site. In Carro Quemado, the studio of painter Antonio Ortiz Echagüe was built in 1933 in the woodland of Estancia La Holanda. Most of Echagüe’s works are kept in the studio at Estancia La Holanda and are part of the cultural heritage of La Pampa Province. The themes are therefore distinct: a designated historic site in Victorica, and the studio’s history and artworks in Carro Quemado.

Another cultural highlight in Victorica is the Fiesta Nacional de la Ganadería del Oeste Pampeano. On October 10, 2012, Resolution No. 244 of Argentina’s Ministry of Tourism declared it a national festival. According to the program announcement, the Fiesta was held in February and offered visitors a broad cultural program, including open-air concerts, folk celebrations, an arts and crafts market, theater, exhibitions, talks, and other activities.

The 2021 edition concluded with a Gran Jineteada at Campo Municipal Don Rosario Balmaceda; the eight evening events took place at Plaza Héroes de Cochicó. If an edition coincides with your travel dates, check the dates and program in advance, as both may vary from one edition to another.

Agriculture and Getting There

The “El Caldenal” production tour at Escuela Provincial Agrotécnica “Agr. Florencio E. Peirone” offers another perspective. It shows visitors how dairy products, sausages, and various agricultural products are made. This adds agricultural processing to the themes of landscape and cultural heritage that you can explore during your stay in Loventué. The producers involved may change.

Victorica can be reached via Provincial Routes No. 10 and No. 105. Route 10 connects the town with the east and west of the province, while Route 105 connects it with southern San Luis and the central part of the province. These directions can help you plan your journey based on your starting point. Road conditions may change; check them before setting out.
