María Grande combines a specific hot spring offering with natural areas and distinctive cultural sites. When choosing a hotel, you can first decide what you want to focus on during your stay: the Termas de María Grande, the city’s promenades and nature reserve, or the city’s history. These differences can help you plan your trip around your own interests.

Hot springs, forest and waterscapes

The Termas de María Grande site covers 47 hectares of native forest that is about 200 years old and crossed by a ravine. Alongside its pools, the forest and ravine give the hot spring complex its own landscape setting; the natural environment and the hot spring offering are two distinct aspects of the same place.

The Termas have nine saltwater pools, three of them covered. Water temperatures range from 39 °C to 46.5 °C. If temperature is your main consideration, this range provides a specific point of reference; the three covered pools are a separate feature of the offering.

To find your way around María Grande, the Termas are on Provincial Route No. 10, at the end of Avenida Argentina. From Paraná, María Grande can be reached by road via National Routes 12 and 18. The first detail locates the complex within the city, while the second describes the road route from Paraná to María Grande.

Paseo de la Cañada is a nature promenade along an old watercourse. Different biomes form there thanks to spring water and the city’s natural drainage. On the southern edge of María Grande, the nature reserve showcases the native flora of the local forest and offers glimpses of its birdlife. Thus, the watercourse and biomes are the focus at the Paseo, while the reserve highlights forest flora and birdlife.

Plaza Centenario offers a different setting: its bright promenade lies between former railway sheds. This gives you a chance to experience María Grande’s distinct landscapes and urban settings—from the old watercourse and local forest to the promenade between the former sheds.

A nearby grill area at Paseo de la Cañada provides a place to stop for grilled food. It adds a spot for a break to the nature promenade, while the Paseo itself is shaped by the watercourse and the biomes that form there.

City history and cultural sites

María Grande’s town clock was built in 1949. It stands at the intersection of Avenidas Argentina, Córdoba and San Martín, on the eastern edge of the small square, and is considered a city landmark. Its year of construction and precise location make it a specific point of reference for the city’s history.

Cine Teatro Don Santiago is designated as part of María Grande’s architectural, historical and cultural heritage. Its preserved features include its eclectic style, original ceiling, original floors and original boxes. The municipal ordinance designating it was sanctioned on May 21, 2025.

The Museo Histórico Municipal was founded to safeguard and preserve the city’s cultural, historical and institutional heritage. The corresponding ordinance was sanctioned on October 21, 2021. Together with the clock and the Cine Teatro, the museum offers another way to explore María Grande’s history: through its heritage and its preservation.

The municipal amphitheater hosts peñas and performances. It is located in a leafy park with children’s play equipment, combining a venue for events with a park setting.

The Tanguito Montielero is another distinct musical connection. In María Grande, September 20 was designated as “Tanguito Montielero Day.” The corresponding ordinance provides for a “Festival del Tanguito Montielero” featuring live performances, talks at local educational institutions, and other activities to promote the interpretation and appreciation of this musical genre. If this is a focus of your trip, check the dates of a specific edition separately.
