If you are planning a trip to Laprida, you can focus on architecture and cultural heritage, a museum visit, or scenery and leisure. Impressions range from Salamone’s distinctive public buildings to the shores of Laguna El Paraíso. Events celebrating circus arts and environmental issues are also among the town’s many facets.

Salamone Heritage and Architecture

Francisco Salamone’s works in the Partido de Laprida include the Palacio Municipal, the main square, the slaughterhouse, the cemetery portal, the municipal works depot and the delegation in San Jorge. These works have been declared district heritage. The “Laprida Corazón de la Obra de Salamone” tour is part of the Ruta Salamone Bonaerense, placing Laprida on a regional route.

The Palacio Municipal in Laprida was inaugurated in 1939. Its façade is axially symmetrical; a large clock tower and vertical concrete elements on the side wings define the building. It is heritage of the municipality and the Province of Buenos Aires, as well as a national historic monument. As part of the Torres Abiertas program, a visit takes you up more than 100 steps to the 40-meter-high tower.

Another striking work by Salamone is the portal of the Laprida cemetery. The stepped structure is 32 meters high and is regarded as a masterpiece by the architect; it also belongs to his series of cemeteries and slaughterhouses. The Antiguo Matadero de Laprida, in turn, was part of a public works program planned around 1937, which also included the square, town hall, cemetery and municipal works depot. The slaughterhouse is notable for its circular hall, offset tower with an Art Deco aesthetic, and semicircular vestibule.

Museum Visits and Culture

The Museo del Agua was established inside the water tower in 2019 and has interactive learning areas. A guided visit takes you to the tower’s top floor. Telephone reservations are available at 2284 301665; confirm the number before making plans. No opening hours are listed for the museum.

The Centro de Interpretación de la Obra de Salamone is also part of Laprida’s cultural offering. Established in 2013, it provides information for a tourist tour of Salamone heritage. This allows you to view the individual buildings and their place in the architect’s work as a connected theme, while keeping their different forms in view.

Laguna El Paraíso and Leisure

The Complejo El Paraíso is three kilometers from the town center, next to Laguna El Paraíso, and has a dense eucalyptus grove. The grounds include a swimming pool, camping area, fire pits, amphitheater, sports fields and play areas for children. Individual facilities may change, and seasonal operations may vary. If you make the complex a focus of your trip, take these conditions into account when planning.

The competition program offered through the Dirección de Deportes includes Rural Bike, duathlon and triathlon. The competitions are a distinct sporting aspect of the offering; this does not mean that every discipline takes place at the Complejo El Paraíso.

Events and Getting There

The Festival Nacional de Circo Callejero features Argentine circus troupes performing acrobatics, aerial silks, trapeze, comedy and circus arts. More than 100 troupes had performed at the festival by its 15th edition. An April 2026 report describes free outdoor performances in public spaces in Laprida. If you want to plan your trip around the festival, check the dates for the relevant edition.

The Fiesta Provincial del Reciclaje brings together organizations and stakeholders in recycling and environmental protection at the local, national and international levels. It takes place in May and is developing into an annual forum for dialogue and awareness-raising on environmental and sustainability issues. Another environmental tourism stop in Laprida is the Planta de Tratamiento de Residuos Sólidos Urbanos. Established in 1991, it is described as the first facility of its kind in Latin America.

The road route from Buenos Aires to Laprida is listed as using National Routes 3 and 226 and Provincial Routes 51 and 86. As road conditions can change, check the route before setting out. When choosing a hotel for your trip, you can consider whether you mainly want to explore Salamone heritage, the Museo del Agua or the scenic setting of the Complejo El Paraíso.
