Łącko combines a historic architectural character with Lake Wicko and a recreational area by the beach. Half-timbered buildings, the Church of the Annunciation and ancient lime trees give the village several points of cultural and historical interest. For your travel planning, there is also the oval village layout and a range of views of the lake.

Half-timbered houses and village layout

Łącko lies in the Kraina w Kratę (Checkered Land) and is considered a valuable historic, architectural and natural ensemble, as well as an outstanding representative of this region. Around thirty half-timbered buildings survive; they were built from the mid-19th century onwards. As a result, buildings from an extended period of construction shape the village’s character. Łącko’s architectural heritage includes both the surviving half-timbered buildings and the Gothic Church of the Annunciation.

Half-timbering is a building method in which a wooden frame divides the wall, with infill panels filling the spaces between the timbers. The term therefore describes a type of construction, not simply the age of a house. In 2019, Łącko received a certificate for participating in the Network of Poland’s Most Interesting Villages.

Church, lime trees and remembrance

The Church of the Annunciation is Gothic, was built in the 13th century and remodelled in 1607. These dates distinguish the original construction period from a later remodelling and give the church’s history a specific chronology. A row of ancient lime trees surrounds the church grounds; ten of them are recognised as natural monuments.

A grand commemorative plaque has been preserved at the site where the young Prince Bogusław X is said to have lived. The church, the row of lime trees and the plaque offer different ways into the village’s history: through architecture, natural monument status and a historical memory expressed in explicitly cautious terms.

The beach at Lake Wicko

A self-service bicycle repair station has been installed at the beach on Lake Wicko in Łącko. A wooden recreational pavilion has also been built there, park hammocks have been installed, and the footpaths have been topped with natural gravel. The beach recreation area also includes a designated fire pit.

Each feature serves a different purpose: the repair station is for bicycles, while the pavilion and park hammocks enhance visitors’ stay. The fire pit is another part of the recreational area.

Routes between the village layout and the lake

The Trasa szachulca i legend (Half-timbering and Legends Route) was designed to highlight Łącko’s oval layout. This makes the shape of the village a point of interest in its own right, alongside its half-timbered architecture.

On the R10 cycling route towards Łącko, a view of Lake Wicko opens up to the left of the route. On arrival, you can turn left and take in the lake from another vantage point. The difference lies in the moment of approach: the first view is from the R10 on the way towards Łącko, while the second comes as you arrive in the village.
