Dywity offers several clearly defined themes to consider when planning a trip: marked cycling routes, Jezioro Dywickie, and architectural and local history. When choosing where to stay, you can first decide whether route length, the lakeside setting or historical connections matter most to you. The following sections explore these highlights through specific places and details.

Cycling: two marked routes

Two marked cycling routes with stated distances are available to choose from. The blue route is 32 km long and runs from Dywity via Różnowo, Dąbrówka Wielka, Nowe Włóki, Gradki, Frączki, Tuławki, Gady, Lake Wadąg and Dągi, before returning to Dywity. The yellow route covers 20 km. It runs from Dywity via Redykajny, Wilimowo, Kajny, Barkweda, Brąswałd and Ługwałd, before returning to the village. Both routes are marked and end back in Dywity. This makes their lengths and the places along the routes specific points of comparison: the yellow route is twelve kilometres shorter, while the blue route passes Lake Wadąg, among other places.

Jezioro Dywickie: path, beach and view

A walking and cycling path runs around Jezioro Dywickie. The recreation area also includes a developed beach. A raised viewing platform clad in wood faces the lake. The lakeside therefore has several distinct features: the path around the lake, the beach and the platform facing the water. If you put the lake at the centre of your trip planning, these details offer different points of interest; the circular path is a route in its own right, separate from the two marked cycling routes.

Neo-Gothic church and organ

The Church of the Holy Apostles Simon and Jude Thaddeus is a neo-Gothic building in Dywity. It is 40 m long, 17 m wide and 19 m high. Eight granite pillars support seven sculptures of apostles. The measurements give a sense of the building’s length, width and height, while the pillars and sculptures identify specific details of its fittings. The organ is another distinctive feature of the church: it has eighteen stops, was built by the Bruno Goebel company from Orneta, and its sound can still be heard today. The architecture, sculptures and organ thus offer different perspectives on the same church building.

Bridge history and connection to film

The history of the bridge over the Wadąg has two construction phases. The first bridge was built in 1859 and destroyed shortly afterwards. A new crossing was completed in 1862, and road traffic resumed. The chronology is therefore clear: the first construction was followed by its destruction and the completion of a new crossing three years later.

The bridge over the Wadąg at the entrance to Dywity also served as a filming location for a pursuit scene in the episode “Podwójny nelson” of the Polish television series “Stawka większa niż życie”. This is a specific connection to television history, alongside the bridge’s role in transport history. Another historical connection lies nearby: a military airship base opened there in 1914, not in Dywity itself.

Competition at Święto Warmińskiego Piwowara

Święto Warmińskiego Piwowara hosts the final of the Warmiński Konkurs Piw Domowych. Every year, home brewers from all over Poland submit several dozen beers brewed at home. Professional judges from the Polish Association of Home Brewers evaluate the entries. The competition connects the festival with participants from across the country.
