The cycling and hiking trails through Kaplityny provide practical points of reference for planning your trip. You can compare distances and routes, and when cycling, also take the surface information into account. The angel theme is also part of the village’s character. Which focus suits your stay depends on whether you prefer hiking, cycling or are interested in Kaplityny’s thematic character.

Compare hiking trails by distance and route

The blue hiking trail is 5.7 kilometres long and runs from Wójtowo Osiedle Leśne through Kaplityny and back to Wójtowo Osiedle Leśne. Along the way, it crosses the Kanał Elżbiety and then leads to a signal-controlled road crossing in Kaplityny. Check the route details again before setting out. At 10.0 kilometres, the black hiking trail is longer. Its loop runs from Wójtowo through Kaplityny, Sapunki and Bogdany, and back to Wójtowo. If the distance is the main factor in your choice, the blue trail is 4.3 kilometres shorter than the black one. The two routes briefly meet; together, they cross the Kanał Elżbiety over a bridge. The trails therefore differ both in length and in the places named along their routes.

Two cycling routes through Kaplityny

The red cycling route is 23.4 kilometres long. It runs from Barczewo through Rejczuchy, Sapuny, Bogdany, Kaplityny, Łęgajny, Biedowo and Dąbrówka Mała, and back to Barczewo. More than half the route is on asphalt; the remaining sections require basic experience riding off-road. The Warmia landscape along this route is hilly and includes lakes, streams, canals and wetlands. The green cycling route is 27 kilometres long and runs from Barczewo through Mokiny, Bogdany, Kaplityny, Łęgajny and Barczewko, and back to Barczewo. This makes it 3.6 kilometres longer than the red route. Both cycling routes pass through Kaplityny, but they differ in length and course and—in the case of the red route—in the explicitly stated requirements for riding on unpaved sections.

The angel theme in Kaplityny

Kaplityny is a themed village. A radio report dated 26 May 2021 names a village angel square and an angel playground as elements of this theme. Another report, published on 23 December 2020, introduces Wioska Sosnowych Aniołów in Kaplityny, created by Krystyna Szter, and mentions the Anielski Plac zabaw dla dzieci. The names point to a cultural side of the village that differs from its cycling and hiking routes. If you would like to include one of the squares in your travel plans, check its current condition and whether it can be visited beforehand.

Choose the right focus for your trip

The angel theme offers a different point of interest from the activities on the trails. First decide which of these focuses matters to your stay.
