Zabrowo lies on the Osa River, and several cycling routes pass through Ząbrowo. For planning your trip, the routes differ mainly in length, itinerary and endpoint: one route of about 20 km returns to Iława, a 23 km cycling route ends in Siemiany, and the green cycling route along the Kanał Elbląski also passes through Ząbrowo. Local history includes a memorial stone; old gravestones have been preserved in the cemetery.

Cycling Routes and Itineraries

The approximately 20 km cycling route runs from Iława via Szymbark, Ząbrowo, Segnowy, Laseczno and Stradomno, returning to Iława. Its approximate total length and return to the same place provide two clear points of reference for planning. Ząbrowo lies along the route, but is not the stated starting or ending point of the loop.

The black cycling route is 23 km long and runs from Iława via Kamionka, Ząbrowo, Szymbark, Starzykowo, Piotrkowo and Szwalewo to Siemiany. Compared with the approximately 20 km route, both the stated total length and the endpoint differ: one route returns to Iława, while the black route ends in Siemiany. You can use the itinerary to decide which type of route better suits your plans. Check route conditions before setting off.

The green cycling route along the Kanał Elbląski runs through Elbląg (Rubno Wielkie), Nowakowo, Kępa Rybacka, Bielnik II, Kazimierzowo, Władysławowo, Wikrowo, Jegłownik, Gronowo Elbląskie, Różany, Zwierzno, Kępniewo, Brudzędy, Stare Dolno, Święty Gaj, Kwietniewo, Rychliki, Jelonki, Lepno, Kreki, Jarnołtowo, Zalewo, Jerzwałd, Siemiany, Piotrkowo, Starzykowo, Szymbark, Ząbrowo, Kamionka and Iława. In this order, Ząbrowo lies between Szymbark and Kamionka. The places listed can help you locate this section within the full route when planning your trip.

The Osa River and Local History

Zabrowo lies on the Osa River. The municipal investment report for 2018–2024 lists a built cycling path more than 1,500 m long between Ząbrowo and Segnowy, as well as a pedestrian bridge built over the Osa in Ząbrowo. The report thus mentions construction projects with different connections to the area: a cycling link between two places and a pedestrian structure over the river.

A memorial stone also has a specific story behind it. Residents of the Sołectwo Ząbrowo found a stone in a field. Stonemason Bohdan Lewczyk shaped it into a memorial stone commemorating the history of Ząbrowo. Its discovery and skilled craftsmanship are connected here with the theme of local history.

Old gravestones bearing the family names Derkowski, Józefski (Josewski), Majewski, Rybicki, Kukła, Murawski, Jałowski, Granica, Tadzki (Tatzki) and Laskowski have been preserved in the cemetery in Ząbrowo. Kingerske (Kingerski) may also be among them. The forms in parentheses preserve the additional name variants given; the attribution of Kingerske remains expressly uncertain.
