Topics to explore during a stay in Strawczyn include the commemoration of Stefan Żeromski, a church with a long building history, Zalew w Strawczynie and cycling routes. The 2026 municipal timetable also lists bus routes to and through Strawczyn. If you are looking for a hotel in Strawczyn, the main focus of your trip can help guide your choice: the memorial and church history offer a different emphasis from spending time by the water or taking a longer cycling tour.

Żeromski Memorial and Church History

The red sandstone obelisk in Strawczyn commemorates Stefan Żeromski’s birthplace. Its inscription states that the house where Żeromski was born on 1 November 1864 stood on this site. The monument and inscription connect the memory of the writer with a specific place and date.

The Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary was founded by Krzysztof Gawroński. Construction began in 1629 and was completed in 1685. These two dates provide a timeframe for the church’s building history and add another cultural and historical subject to the memorial sites in Strawczyn.

Leisure at Zalew w Strawczynie

Zalew w Strawczynie, covering just under ten hectares, is a lake for recreation and leisure. It was created by damming the Olszówka watercourse, also known as Trupień. Facilities include a pier, covered gazebos with benches and tables, barbecue and campfire areas, fishing spots and a large car park. There is also a designated bathing area, rest gazebos and a children’s playground at the lake.

In summer, visitors can use a sandy beach and a volleyball court; cycling routes by the lake are also available then. These seasonal offerings can be distinguished from the facilities described as available year-round, such as the pier and gazebos. Before visiting, check the current operating conditions, especially if you are planning to use the beach or volleyball court.

Cycling and Nature Nearby

The yellow circular cycling route around the municipality of Strawczyn is more than 30 kilometres long in total. Its southeastern section passes through Strawczyn, Promnik, Chełmce, Oblęgorek, Oblęgór and Niedźwiedź. The route description published in 2017 notes that this section follows paved roads with very little traffic. Check current markings and conditions before setting out.

Near Strawczyn, the forested summit of Perzowa Góra has been protected as a nature reserve since 1995. The reserve covers 33 hectares. This distinguishes the cycling route as a specific option in Strawczyn from a nature attraction in the surrounding area, without presenting them as a single route.

Another Record of Żeromski

Stefan Żeromski’s birth certificate can be seen in a church in Strawczyn. If you plan to visit, check the current access arrangements beforehand.
