Water attractions at Park Wodny Perła
The park has a 94 m-long outdoor slide with light and sound effects, as well as a 35 m-long, semi-enclosed indoor slide. The facilities also include an infrared sauna, a Finnish sauna, a steam room and whirlpools with therapeutic mud and brine water. Water massages are also available to children and older people.
Aqua aerobics classes for people of all ages are offered at the park. No swimming skills or special physical fitness are required. Those who specifically want to learn to swim can book individual lessons with one of the swimming instructors who work there. Classes and individual lessons are different options: group training that requires no prior swimming skills is offered alongside one-to-one swimming instruction. If you plan to take part in either activity, check the current schedule and booking options in advance.
The Nowiny municipality also has a second pool at Park Wodny Perła, intended for children. It is 0.4 to 0.8 m deep and has a small elephant-shaped slide and a cascade that forms a curtain of water.
Hiking and cycling trails in the Nowiny municipality
The blue Edmund Padechowicz Hiking Trail runs through the Nowiny municipality, passing through the Góra Żakowa Nature Reserve and the monument in Szewce. The Nowińska Ścieżka Turystyczna is a 7 km circular route in the Chęcińsko-Kielecki Landscape Park. It starts and ends in Szewce. These two hiking routes have different landmarks: the circular route through the landscape park on the one hand, and the nature reserve and monument on the other.
The cycling trail in Nowiny is 7.6 km long, crosses the hills of the Pasmo Zelejowskie southeast of Kielce, and runs mainly along forest roads. For comparison, the circular route is 7 km long and the cycling trail is 7.6 km; they also differ in activity and route. If you plan to take one of the routes, check the current trail conditions before setting out.
Culture in the wider Kielce destination
Cultural sites in the wider Kielce destination offer another perspective on the region. The Ethnographic Park in Tokarnia is an open-air museum covering more than 65 hectares, with over 80 historic buildings. These include farmhouses, barns, windmills, churches and manor houses. The park recreates typical village layouts from four subregions of the Kielecczyzna region: the Świętokrzyskie Mountains, the Kraków-Częstochowa Upland, the Sandomierz Upland and the Nida Basin. Themed guided tours are available for groups and individual visitors; reservations are required.
The manor house of Henryk Sienkiewicz in Oblęgorek houses Poland’s first museum dedicated to the life and work of the Nobel Prize winner. The historic ground-floor interiors recreate his home, including his study, living room, dining room, smoking room and bedroom. Thus, alongside the ethnographic open-air museum, Kielce also features a site focused on the life of an individual writer.
The Święty Krzyż Monastery is an active religious institution. It was formerly associated with the Benedictines and is now inhabited by the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate. Chęciny Royal Castle was one of the Crown’s important fortresses in the Middle Ages. These two places represent different historical perspectives: an active monastery with a Benedictine past and a fortress of medieval significance.
