Korbielow: Hiking, Skiing and Culture
Accommodation in Korbielow
When choosing a hotel in Korbielow, it is worth deciding first what you want to focus on during your trip. Hiking trails on Pilsko, skiing, and religious and local culture appeal to different interests. This lets you plan your stay around what you want to do or discover, rather than trying to fit everything into a single itinerary.
Hiking Trails Around Pilsko
Korbielow lies at the foot of Pilsko. The shortest and least demanding route up the mountain starts in Korbielow. A yellow and a green hiking trail also lead from the centre of Korbielow over Czarny Groń and onward towards Hala Miziowa.
Allow about 3 hours and 30 minutes as a guide for the ascent from Korbielow to Pilsko. About 2 hours and 30 minutes are needed to reach Hala Miziowa, with a further 45 minutes for the climb to the summit. The actual duration varies depending on conditions and your pace.
Skiing and Lessons
According to the ski area's lesson rules, lessons are intended for children, young people and beginners. They are taught by specially trained instructors with valid PZN and/or UKFIS qualifications. Private or group services offered by other people and ski schools are not permitted there. If lessons are an important part of your ski trip, take this restriction into account when planning and check availability in advance.
Religious and Local Culture
The image of the Virgin Mary, Matka Boża Korbielowska, came to Korbielow from Jarosław in 1974. Since 2 August 1974, the image has been housed in the parish cared for by the Dominicans. The local mountain community venerates it and calls it Panią Korbielowską. Both names therefore refer to the same image; its history connects Korbielow with a religious tradition that is revered in the community.
The Muzeum Motóra is also part of the area's cultural scene: on 2 October 2016, it opened its first permanent exhibition of motorcycles and other exhibits. If you are interested in the history of the image, you can also consider the museum as a different way to explore Korbielow's culture.
The Redyk takes place regularly in spring. It is rooted in the traditional custom of bringing sheep together into a communal flock. If you would like to include the event in your travel plans, check the specific dates in advance.
A Culinary Specialty
Cheese is sold at the border car park in Korbielow. At a nearby Bacówka, cheese is smoked using traditional methods. If you want to include this culinary aspect in your plans, check availability before your trip.
Find the Right Hotel for Your Trip
For hiking, the trails on Pilsko and the approximate ascent time are key considerations; for a ski trip, the lesson rules are another planning point. The image of the Virgin Mary, the museum and the Redyk, which takes place regularly in spring, offer other cultural points of interest. Compare specific hotel offers based on your personal requirements, and check details about amenities and availability with each individual offer.
