Ustka lies where the Słupia flows into the Baltic Sea. The river and coast give the town a clear geographical identity. The eastern beach is by the promenade and has tourist facilities; from the harbor, pirate-ship-like vessels offer trips on the Baltic Sea. If you are looking for a hotel in Ustka, you can start by considering whether the coast, the town’s history or outdoor routes will shape your stay. Travel themes include the beach and harbor, as well as protected streetscapes, historic buildings and routes through the coastal landscape.

River, beach and routes

Ustka’s movable pedestrian bridge connects the opposite banks of the Słupia and is considered a tourist attraction. It is a structure whose function and distinctive form also help visitors find their bearings by the river.

The R-10 long-distance cycling route, the Nadmorski Szlak Hanzeatycki, passes through Ustka. The Szlak Uroczysko runs west of Ustka through the coastal landscape between the beach and residential areas. This gives you two different route options: a long-distance cycle route through the town and a trail through the western coastal landscape.

Historic traces in the town

The historic old town preserves the street layout of a medieval village, which is protected as a monument for its historical value. A few houses remain in Stara Osada Rybacka; they once belonged to Ustka’s most prominent residents—ship captains. The town’s history is therefore present in two different forms: in the protected layout of the former village and in surviving houses connected with Ustka’s captains.

Individual buildings add their own distinctive touches. The Kościół p.w. Najświętszego Zbawiciela was built in 1885–1888 and contains organs made by the Voelkner manufactory. Ustka Lighthouse is octagonal and decorated with numerous cornices. For travelers interested in culture, these offer different points of interest, from the construction period and the organs to the lighthouse’s shape and ornamentation.

Museum, bunkers and local themes

The Muzeum Ziemi Usteckiej displays artifacts and photographs from around the turn of the 20th century, postwar documents and mementos from the decommissioned Stocznia „Ustka”. The mix of photographs and artifacts, postwar documents and shipyard mementos brings together several different periods.

The Bunkry Blüchera complex includes the Park Spotkań z Historią, a multimedia gallery showing the daily lives of the soldiers stationed in the bunkers. Here, the soldiers’ everyday lives are the focus of a distinct historical theme.

Local fishermen sell fresh fish on Targ Rybny, caught with their fishing boats. This gives the market a direct connection to fishing and the origin of the goods on offer. Tężnia is located in Park Usteckich Stoczniowców, adding a park to the list of places to visit.

Arriving and finding your way

Ustka railway station is a short distance from the town center and harbor. Both are useful reference points when you arrive: you can decide whether to head toward the center or the harbor. This makes it easy to take the station’s location into account when planning your trip, without assuming a particular walking time.
